Barloworld Transport Reviews

Very educational

We worked working 12 hour shifts, because of hunger to learn and grow I followed suit.. My relationship with my co-workers workers was very nice we were 1 big happy family I've learned to multitask, respect my co- workers and to give 100% in everything I do. I enjoyed coaching drivers and tool box talks which built my drivers to be positive and effective assets in the Company The most challenging aspect which lead me to leave for greener pastures was that the 12hours worked was not remunerated, public holidays and weekends were also not remunerated...

Pros: It was a wonderful experience
Cons: Working abnormal hours and not being paid

Excellent learning curve.

I have managed and administer the personnel filing office. I have dealt with daily requests from payroll and Human Resources email requests for sertain documents. Maintained record keeping of 4500 employees. Scanned and linking mandatory documents to Human Capital system, Sage People. I have worked independently and worked close with the Auditors, internal and external. I was challenged with deadlines and can honestly say that I could get everything ready in time. I am a meticulous person that can multi-task and supported co-workers when needed. I got very well along. with co-workers because I "love'" people

Pros: Could apply for any other position to grow
Cons: No benefits

Financial Accountant

My my morning starts by reviewing Creditors, Debtors and all payments submitted by all Business units to facilitate payment requirements for the day in the form of a cash flow. I then transfer funds to and from business units on business banking and then allocate via loan accounts. Throughout the day I issue Petty Cash to refund drivers, local and cross-border for tolls and expenses incurred, while managing all aspects of banking. I often find myself helping others resolve work related queries or giving advise on how to fix anything. Working in a company with so many people from different cultures, backgrounds and with different personalities has taught me to be respectful, patient and tolerant. I enjoy working with so may different business units because each business unit is different from the other and I enjoy the different challenges. The most challenging aspects of my job is that procedures constantly change and the challenge is relying on service providers to facilitate requested changes timeously.

Pros: Stability
Cons: systems need to be maintained and upgraded.

Interesting place to work in

Working there is like a roller coaster ride, there is some sort of drama everyday. I understand that it is due to the transport side being fairly new, therefore things are still being established. My relationship with co- workers was very good, it was also not too bad with operations. The only problem was that there is too much travelling and my kids are quite young

Pros: Barloworld is huge, therefore there can be lateral moves
Cons: Too much travelling

Good learning curve, currently promotions are limited.

Learning curve from 2014 when i started out at Barloworld Transport, promoted to senior management and currently a bit of a standstill at the company with regards to promotion. Not many opportunities to spend time with mentors in order to grow my career.

Pros: Great opportunity for development in various areas in HR
Cons: Limited opportunities for career growth

My daily routine was well planned, I had an enormous amount of work to be done daily but I managed it and my managers was proud of me. I enjoyed working in a team although I'm a quiet person.
