In for the long haul
Started out as a few entrepreneurial companies merging to become a medium sized corporate company merging with another big corporate. Not everyone has made the transition to corporate including management . To add to the mix, we work in a matrix structure as all companies maintained their legal entity status with a shared service centre for all functional departments. Not everyone has bought into this either. I have enjoyed my time in the group as I have been exposed to both operational and functional HR, have learnt a lot, and changed career path with help and support of my managers.
Pros: opportunities are available to those who prove themselves and can adapt to the ever changing corporate structure
Cons: can be long hours as ops runs 24/7/365

Politics and unfairness are the order of the day
A former shadow of it's glorious self. Too many politics and unfair treatment of subordinates by insecure inexperienced Managers. The only way you will be recognised or considered for any promotion is if you know someone in high places or you suck up hard enough. The company is undergoing transformation and that has revealed even more shocking truths of the injustices/improper methods of filling of positions in years past. Am praying to God for another job... this experience has to be the worst in my career so far. Apologies if the review puts a damper on others hopes...but the truth is the truth
Pros: Still thinking...
Cons: Environment, parking space terrible, canteen expensive and open space offices. Lunch break only half an hour-in an industrial area that's not enough time to travel to and from shops.

I am dedicated to my work,very ambitious with 14 years of Logistics experience.
I have had 14 years’ extensive experience in logistics operations; from aviation fuel, automotive fuel, solvents, and bulk alcohol and car carriers. In all the 4 companies I have worked in, starting from Shell Aviation, Toyota Tsusho, Unitrans Fuel Agric and Mining and now Barloworld Transport, I have had a lot of operations and logistics admin experience that came with different operational functions. I have also had a tremendous experience with man management and SHEQ policies and implementation from company to company. I like to take initiative. I possess a high-level of professional conduct and with effective communication skills. I am also loyal, reliable and good with figures, results driven and capable of dealing with people at all levels. I am dedicated to my work and very ambitious. I am very competent with Microsoft Office with a strong willingness to learn and to adapt to change.

Learned to pay attention to detail. Capturing data at an advanced level and working u der pressure
the working environment is an open and well cultured where humanity is practiced and working with one another. one would strive to assist so that we reach organisational goal and excel. the level of professionalism allows smooth operation and effective problem solving.

I am a competent Group IT data manager
A typical day at work comprises of managing and transforming data into strong business intelligence information. I manage a data analyst, IT Data Administrator as well as a QlikView Developer. Relationship with fellow co-workers:- I am in a senior management position and set KPA's and direct staff on how to achieve these targets. I project manage a number of projects that involve our entire IT team comprising of 20 people. What I learnt:- I have been very lucky in being given the opportunity to delve into business intelligence tools like QlikView. I enjoy working in an innovative environment. The most challenging of my job are performance reviews

Excellent learning curve
Capture daily trips on MAX System, Capture daily refuels of entire fleet Reconcile Bowser Fuel and All fuel sheets. Filing Capture Peninsula Beverages trips on Oracle Fleet Controller duties – Planning loads, driver scheduling Capture all trips on Transport Report Issue drivers PPE The employees that you work with are very helpful and friendly. We work as team to achieve the companies goals

Good
I am Thato Reginald Machewane, B Com Degree in Logistics Management and Transport Economics graduate, from the North-West University (Mafikeng Campus). I hereby wish to formally to put forth my application for internship or available jobs as a new talented young person. Being from a disadvantaged background, I have never abused that fact to expect handouts from life, but rather dedicated myself to hard work, as well as focused commitment to my own potential, and will always seek ways and means to make this happen. I understand my own responsibility in this respect and have therefore worked very hard to obtain merit awards (in the form of financial discounts off my outstanding student account). I utilize every opportunity to find part-time positions as well as opportunities on Campus to to be a leader , grow my work skills and generate additional income.

Team work, commitment and integrity
Team work is one of the most encouraged factors in Barloworld and colleagues have also been inscribed such in their DNA. The fleet is usually needed on urgent basis so working in a team ensures that its is possible. Along with team work is accountability for the role that each individual has to play and that in turn leads to been committed to the success of the team as a team player. Been committed to the work is a huge part in the development of the individual and company as a whole, it teaches to ensure pride and integrity in the work one performs. Commitment also ensure long-term service to the company and the individuals life as a whole. Integrity is made up of that accountability, commitment and the ability to be a team player, all this flows into one's own life and sustainability becomes the order of the day. I know I can carry these lessons on throughout my career and teach others how to gel them all together.
