Aurecon Reviews

Tough but Rewarding

Working at Aurecon Has been a tough but Rewarding experience. Aurecon has a great atmosphere and a spirit of teamwork. I started off at Aurecon in 2008 as CAD drafter doing FNB branches. With much assistance from fellow staff I learned a lot but quickly Realized that Revit is the way to go and Did my first Training in 2012. After some many headaches I understood Revit. This led to my involvement great Projects. I have had the privilege of travailing to Dubai to work on the Calatrava Tower. I did Lighting and Power (Revit) for 80 Ann Street based in Australia. I have done some Malls up in Africa. The Jobs are all unique and have a verity for challenges, but the greatest is time. I spent many nights reworking because of architect changes. The consulting engineering industry is so diver and offer so much room to learn, I have done several Mechanical Revit Project in Revit and eve tried out Structures.

Pros: Flex Time
Cons: Small Bonus and Bad increases

Global Company

I have worked here for many years, most of my colleagues are great to work with and enjoy working with them. The company has started to give the feeling that we are all but a number, crunching figures and if this month isn't great, next month you're getting the boot. Some units are obviously doing good or great so they don't really have these worries. Benefits are good though. I enjoyed working here more 4 years ago than what I do now, but I suppose with any large global firm, this is the norm.

Pros: Flexible hours
Cons: Red tape

Learning experience

I enjoy working at the current workplace except I feel I need to grow over and above what I'm doing need new challenges since I have been working with my company for over 11 yrs now. I'm responsible for quality management systems on 9001:2015 standard for Africa region. Have 4 people reporting to me on quality audits conducted and I give management feedback on continual improvement. I have learnt a lot dealing with conflict and different personalities. The most challenging aspect was to continue with audits where travel budgets were reduced and banned in other locations, had to improvise. One biggest challenge was to make a decision in retrecnching someone in my team had to make a decision between the two.

Pros: Flexible working hours
Cons: No opportunity to grow

Excellent learning curve at CPUT and Aurecon

I completed my civil engineering diploma recently at CPUT and are currently seeking for a work opportunity as a Graduate student in the civil engineering industry. I also completed my inservice training at Aurecon in the year 2016 and I was basically exposed to programs such as Prokon Padds and Revit. I have developed a strong skill in interpretation of drawings and the basics of estimations and costing of materials, as well as the planing of projects and believe that I am well educate and still have space for improvement. I am also willing to learn any new skills to improve my knowledge in the work place.

Pros: I have learned to work faster and effective and to solve problems on my own, this helped me to develop a skill to see trends and complete the pattern.I learned to work with computers and improved my Technical skills with computers. Working long hours to understand the job description, Trying to figure things out by myself so that I can remember it longer and be helpful where I can see things are not going as planned.
Cons: Long hours, You cant always satisfy your Bos, You make mistakes due to stress and first time dealing with a new problem till you mastered it after the first mistake and then you try to avoid the mistake spending long hours trying to not make the same mistake again.

Not designing for people, designing with people

Typical day at the office entails operations meetings, finance meetings, general management meetings and work acquisition meetings. I have a very good relationship with my coworkers and colleagues in general. I fenjoy working with the different characters etc I enjoy job satisfaction and job enrichment. I ha I enjoy working with different characters and different personalities. The most challenging aspect of my job is that when I feel there is a little repetition.

Pros: Challenging
Cons: Become boring

It was an excellent learning curve for me, I learned AutoCad from introduction to intermediate.

My experience with Aurecon has been nothing but a bliss. Most colleagues where friendly & willing to assist with work where 1 doesn't understand. Unfortunately I was then retrenched in March 2020. I'm job seeking right now. I learnt AutoCad at this company. I've learned to work under pressure & execute work accordingly & deliver just in time. It can really get busy & frustrating at times, but I love challenges, they keep me going.

Pros: You get to experience the cooperate world in a whole new level, you learn as you go, you also learn things that you're capable of doing yourself.
Cons: 40hrs a week, no long hrs needed unless you're not finished with the work delegate to you.

Learning curve

I am a mature, reliable and accountable lady in the Accounting profession looking to enhance my career and talents in Accounting I still have a great deal to learn in all spheres within the Accounting profession. In the short term, I would like to expand, get a lot of experience and gain greater exposure in both the theoretical and practical aspects of the profession. In the long term, I intend applying such knowledge in an efficient and effective manner, to obtain and maintain a positive outcome. I would like myself to be considered as an investment and asset to the company I am employed with. And, as with any investment, would like to see myself grow with the company through the enhancement of its reputation and expansion of its clientele.

Pros: Room for growth
Cons: Long working hours

To be able to stand up and for what i believe its right

It is very diverse company.Being a receptionist it means you are a driver of the company. You have be more accommodating not to mention a love of people. Being a receptionist it also challenging it needs more patients and people form that personal relationship with clients. Be aware that you are a an image of the company other words you are representing the company.I ve enjoyed to interact with walking in clients. I have learned that all the clients have different attitudes and they are unique in their own way.

Pros: when you doing your job very well its a little bit difficult to be promoted to the next job
Cons: 8 hours
