Excellent entry level job

Sappi is diverse in terms of civil engineering, we cover all aspects of the engineering field from roads to structures and much more.We also work with a lot of aspects regarding industrialised maintenance work.

Pros: Good exposure of all fields

Excellent learning curve

Attending shutdowns and plant maintenance during day and attending electrical and mechanical breakdown after hours , working on different parts of the mill and learning every day.

Iha ve been working for sappi since 2018 as a. Trainee,, and I have completed my diploma I Chemistry, I was give n another chance to work as a fixed term Contract as Chemical technician

Great engineering exposure and training

Am currently employed as an Senior Electrical Technician in Utilities section at Sappi Ngodwana where I have acquired a preventive maintenance, efficient troubleshooting and responding to great deal of experience in plant maintenance over the past 18 months and my responsibility is to ensure plant availability and reliability through breakdowns. My duties include fault finding, maintenance and monitoring of control equipment, such as allenbradley PLCs, PFCs, VSDs, boiler equipment , paper machines, winders and the mill water supply system. I have a good track record of successful projects for mineral ore ball mills, industrial fans for boiler applications, slurry, raw water and waste water pumping, conveyors applications, overhead crane applications, paper winders and paper making machines, sugar centrifugal separators and the like.

I enjoy working in a company with people who are friendly, co- operative, people whom I work with are easy to understand, communicate with them well, I have learn a lot since I started at SAPPI and I enjoy working with my team

Excellent career growth

I’m more involved in maintenance, validation of instruments and methods, chemical and consumables stock and testing. Apart from that, I’m also involved in providing solutions in better understanding and and making sure the mill production is ran in a most efficient and cost effect manner without compromising on the quality of product produced. Also making sure we comply with our quality system ISO 17025. As much as ISO9001 is not part of my accreditation in my facility, I hi am a competent auditor for our mills that uses ISO 9001
