It really is a great experience for myself

I love working at Sappi, especially the role of a generalist. I get to learn different parts of HR such as Skill development, Recruitment and Labour Relations. I can go from recruiting to coordinating training and Attending disciplinary hearings all in a day. The challenging part is prioritizing while multitasking.

Pros: I work as a generalist, meaning i handle Recruitment, Training coordinating and Disciplinary Hearing all in one day, therefore i get to be exposed to different parts of HR in one go.
Cons: With only me and my supervisor handling 450 employees the work sometimes gets overwhelming, end up spending longer hours at work,

Excellent working skills

I am Senzo Blessing Msomi, I am currently looking for a decent job as a technician. I got my Diploma of Electronic Engineering(Instrumentation) at Durban University of Technology and I am working as an Instrument junior technician at Sappi Saiccor. I am due to get my trade test certificate soon. I am a fast learner who likes to work with a group of people and also performs well when working as an individual. Excellent learning curve

Technical report writing, managing SHEQ objectives, doing sampling for external lab analysis. Doing audits in line with ISO 9001/14001/18001. Responsible for at least 200 mill staff.

Pros: Great opportunity for promotion outside Sappi

Excellent exposure

Great exposure. Decision process lengthy however changes are welcomed. Senior management are very supportive of change. Overall working experience with staff great mix of cultures and skills.

A typicAl typicAl day at my current company misleAding does noms all safety issues are ironed out of with The most challenges of the job is to deal with the unplanned occurrences s but you still have to mehat happened in the past 24 hours and then ,take corrective measures if any and proceed to plant for the next 24 hours in line with the budget or forecast.MDT meetings

Continuous learning. Great company to work for.

Dedicated individual who works great both in a tem and individually. Good verbal and email communicator. Take pride in what i do and spend most of my time planning for jobs ahead and how to prevent current setbacks from reoccurring.

Excellent learning curve

Review production targets and previous day performance. My relationships are quite professional. I am a coach to the young staff and a developer to my subordinates. I have learnt that working with diverse team results in favourable outcomes. I enjoy working through a team and finding solutions that long term. I enjoy setting up systems. Most challenging aspects are collaborating across the plants.

Cons: Long working hours.

Attending shutdowns and plant maintenance during day and attending electrical and mechanical breakdown after hours , working on different parts of the mill and learning every day.
