Learning curve yet there is many matters

My work day starts at 7h45 in the morning until 16h30 weekdays. I do investigation of all reported matters that includes alleged criminal matters, security breaches and recommend the disciplinary hearing or opening criminal cases. I produce comprehensive investigation reports after interview of witnesses. Co-workers are so friendly and I learnt a lot especially after combining investigation and security. The challenge is workload as I am the only investigator within the group, to where I conduct so many investigations on reported matters. Precisely I investigate about 12 matters a month and is challenging a lot.

Pros: Nice work environment
Cons: Many matters to investigate

Interesting Project, Lack of organizational support

Having assumed leadership role on an interesting and strategic project that is technically challenging provides an enjoyable work experience and daily drive to render the project a success. I have a reasonably talented team however the lack of organizational support in key areas can be a demotivating factor.

Pros: Flexible working environment
Cons: Lack of organizational support

Good learning opportunity.

The CSIR has provided me with a great opportunity to build confidence in myself and my work. It has grown me from a junior employee into a confident mid-level employee. I am fortunate to have great managers and colleagues to help with the trying tasks. Due to the fact that we are a research company, we are often pushed to use new methods of analysis and always be on the forefront of science. This makes work difficult as there are seldom tutorials or the like that can assist when there is a problem. This is trying but has grown me and my talent.

Pros: Nice atmosphere
Cons: No incentives to give extra. No bonuses. No year end function unless it is at our own cost. No woman's day gifts. Nothing.

Poor leadership, poor management, poor strategy.

The CSIR is intended to bridge academic and private sectors. It has failed in this goal. It is unable to retain or rectuit talent since it pays far below market related salaries, it does not have the capacity to support research or innovation and is heavily loaded with beuracracy in an effort to limit corruption. This results in a scientific institute that has very few scientists, an innovator that cannot engage with business and a bloated institution that lives off of government research grants without delivering much. It's a good place to get involved with the sciences and finish a master's or a PhD but a poor place to work if your desire is to persue research or have real world impact.

Pros: Great opportunities for students
Cons: Very poor opportunities for professionals.
