My work at STANLIB is a typical work day.

What I enjoyed most was my interaction with other departments with a view to learn and gain experience from them. I enjoyed a lot of interaction within my team members and peers in exchanging ideas and assisting each other with the work flow. The most challenging part of my job was when you don't get enough time with the immediate manager due to meetings and travels, so work would pend and cause a delay for the clients' needs to be addressed. My relationship with co-workers was mutual, very helpful, and cooperative.

Pros: STANLIB has great opportunity for promotion
Cons: Long hours have never been my serious concern. I am able to work for long hours

Good company brilliant IT exposure

I own the IT landscape in multi manager (MM) Understanding it, developing the roadmap and planning the transition aligned to MM strategy. I own the relationships with the IT vendors as well as the IT book of work with the vendors. I project manage all IT projects in MM and perforn the analysis on those projects I am involved in all projects aligned to Stanlib IT projects. I own the process capability within MM. I am part of the Stanlib BA mentorship program. I have over 2 years of experience as a BA line manager.

Cons: Unstable employment constant top management changes

Excellent learning curve

I work in the Skills Development department, I am responsible for the base administration of everything as well as coordinating. I am responsible for track of our BEE information and score card and ensuring that all documentations are well kept. I have learned the importance of reviewing the Vendors BEE because it influences our status, WSP, PDP and the importance of the employees being developed. I have an amazing relationship with my team, we have agile meetings three time a week to review our work progress and any bottlenecks. I enjoy making a difference in my workplace’s success.

Best company to work for

Stanlib is one of the best companies to work for, the only problem is working hours but earn peanuts, we are not allowed to claim for overtime sometimes I find myself working from 7am to 12 am and our leaders says nothing about that, it’s a normal practice FYI them

Okay

Depends which department you are in for one to have a work life balance. Month ends get crazy. As well as quarter year. Growth opportunities are there one just needs to know how to go about placing yourself properly.

Work with excellent people

Team is very close. Always jumping in to assist. Open relationships Flexible working hours Volumes can become a bit much over month end Work with diverse groups of people.

Good exposure to industry

exsu Great exposure to the asset management industry. Many types of funds to get exposure to. Staff are generally helpful. Challenges remain with old systems and manual processes in some casesre to the ndustry
