Standardbank

Very busy environment. We serve at least 28 countries across africa and the United Kingdom. Its is a huge learning curve and very diverse. The culture and atmosphere in the bank is great. I enjoy working with the people.

Great opportunity to learn traditional marketing

The overall scope required one to managed multiple portfolios, which required strong planning and project management skills. Team work is also vital not only from a point picking each others brains for creative ideas, but also as a support base should you need help in a particular portfolio or an event for that portfolio. A good relationship with business is also very key in terms of establishing trust, which includes showing understanding for their clients and product offering. The greatest challenge is ensuring that delivery for all your key portfolios is met and executed on time.

Cons: The red tape sometimes resulted in us missing an opportunity in the market to a competitor

The company has groomed me into becoming an excellent sales person.

The most i have learnt at the bank is negotiation skills which is critical within the sales environment. I've learnt networking skills, selling skills and how to be a service champion. All co-workers have a general respect for one another which made working in the bank quite pleasant.

Excellent learning curve

I have learnt to multitask. My colleagues are friendly. It's the same thing daily. Get to work assist customers telephony then leave. I have also learnt to be a fast learner. Learn a lot of things in a little time.

Sales and negotiation skills

I deal with queries telephonically and via email. I do all admon related enquiries I assist my sales consultant in drawing up agreemenets, getting relevant documentation from other stake holders like legal etc

Excellent oportunities for growth and development

Have good communication skills both verbal and written and have the ability to thrive under pressure. Very passionate and tolerant when dealing with customers as well as staff. I am very passionate about sales and customer service, have background experience in sales and customer service, worked for Standard Bank for more a decade.

Customer contanct center for vehicle and asset finance

A Typical day a work is with the operating hours of 08:00 to 17:30 from Monday to Friday and from 08:00 to 12:00 on Saturdays. Each consultant handles a minimum of at least 80 calls a day with is often higher due to a high call volume for dealerships. The most challenging aspect about our job is when procedure has a negative impact on customer experience and satisfaction. It becomes a challenge when some task which can be performed immediately to help the customer are not allowed be done as it does not follow specific procedure which delays the outcome of the clients request.My relationship with my co-workers is great because of the corporate culture instilled into us from the 1st day we join the company. What i have enjoyed most is the ability to effect positive change in the banks belief in the eyes of our client through excellent customer experience .

Excellent starting point of the career

Patience and calmness are the most indirectly taught virtues in this line of work because you face different kinds of customers everyday and you have to able to deal with each and every customer's query, also a listening skill is very important so you can be able to know exactly what a customer needs. Working in a team was the one of the things I enjoyed the most because I had a good relationship with my co-workers. The most challenging aspects of the job is being shortstaffed especially on the busiest days of the months, it is exhausting to work overtime you can easily make mistakes with the cash you handling.
