South African National Defence Force Reviews

Excellent learning curve with an opportunity to travel and work with different people

Excellent learning curve with an opportunity to travel and work with different people. You get to be exposed to different career paths. What do not like is they don't give people the opportunity to explore those careers. I would like to see them investing in their people.

Pros: Get to work with different people and travel.
Cons: Struggle to get contracts and call ups if you are a reserve force member.

I wanna learn and gain more experience in the welding sector

The Company I’m working for is not actually a company but the department of Defence. I’m a welder artisan and what we normally do at work is just maintenance which I personally feel like is not enough for me especially if I wanna learn and gain more experience in the field of welding .

Pros: This will be the great opportunity to be promoted to another level of work and experience
Cons: 48 hours a week at least

Over the years I gained a lot of experience in different fields of Secretary/PA/Receptionist

I am the Secretary of the Officer Commanding of a unit in the SANDF in Youngsfield, Cape Town. I enjoy every moment of it, although it is a very hot seat, but I like to work under pressure. My relationship with co-workers are very good. Due to my appointment I liaise daily to all the Departmental Heads.

Pros: Security
Cons: None

Pros: There are great opportunities for promotion and development.
Cons: Sometimes there are long working hours and no sleep at all for days, staying in the same rank for too long
