Life at SMITHS MANUFACTURING

Employees are United ,they all treat each other like family as a result you can not feel more work pressure.Most of the time competition when working result in good perfomence ,so the another thing i learned when i was working for the company. I have learnt a lot more of car parts and their functions in a vehicle. Workplace culture,learn teamwork,management are supportive,safety first is key as you step in company gate,dojo training,Doctor and nurses at clinic each plant The most challenging part at Smiths Manufacturing is to meet target, but u always get used to it as we growing each and everyday and getting different jobs everyday. I learned that accounting is all about proving what you say it happened. Effective management is a united management There were different cultures and nobody was critizing other culture. The job is always have deadlines It teaches you to be accountable, responsible, integrity, Business acumen

Pros: I learned that accounting is all about proving what you say it happened.
Cons: we working in different shifts but we normal work in a hand to hand shift which is a 6 to 6

Daily activity

Providing competent and effective mechanical, electrical & building services required in the maintaining of all plant and facilities. Ensure cost efficiency of every operation by actively managing daily costs, overtime, wastage, and efficiency. Work closely with quality department in assessing the implementation of the quality plan and quality control plans on the site. Providing a competent and effective plant engineering and preventive maintenance service to the Fluid Exchange, D-Tech & Heat Exchange divisions. Evaluate all production activities and prepare reports for all activities and inspect all associate plant machines and equipment.

Pros: Great platform for techinical development
Cons: The responsability dictate that I do long hours at time

The company gave me a chance to gain experience.

The company offers opportunity to young people to gain experience and further their studies. It offers no growth opportunities to those looking to expand or build their careers. There is no succession planning of any sort done by the company. Compensation is not fair and salary increments are nor fairly given to people according to performance. No appreciation is shown for going the extra mile in one's position.

Cons: No growth oppotunities, poor compensation

Good start from school

It is a fine company.workers respect each other team work is very important. Sometimes most workers feel they are not given opportunities to grow .workers on the shop floor work long hours and sometimes work double shift and not paid the shift allowance and fatigue allowance not given to the employees. Management still have apartheid. They treat black people bad. The people working at the shop floor respect each other they welcome new members warm. They really make the place remembered if you not at work. They treat each other like family. They support each other during hard times. Workers are there for each other

My career

I am confident that my ten years of huge experience and exceptional ability of maintaining equipment and machinery will surely help me to give my performance in this role. I have been in this role for more that than 9 years now ( 8 years at Nampak Bevcan ). I have handled all the major responsibilities such as planning the routine maintenance of tools and machinery, remotely diagnosing faults and overseeing critical repairs, carrying out emergency maintenance, using computerized system to schedule the works, working with other professional in the organization, carrying quality inspections, controlling the maintenance costs and commissioning the guidelines. nce.

Pros: Its a better place to be.
Cons: In my field, long working hours is part of the package

To grow in the company structure and achieving company’s objectives

Smith’s manufacturing is well established company that put safety first and always. Smith’s manufacturing uses problem solving system like A3 and cause and effect diagrams where section leader would present the production lines to senior management once a week. Every morning section leader will conduct MDW meeting to discuss daily production.engineering maintenance production will meet every week to discuss line improvement and how to reduce downtime

Pros: Opportunity of promotion and improving production
Cons: Overtime
