SANBS Reviews

Great Company that offers good benefits and employee wellness as a top priority.

The SANBS is a life saving organisation where we are tasked with procuring blood to save patients lives. The relationships we build ensure that we are able to collect blood from schools and organisations regularly. A typical day involve making sure that the public is aware of our existance and that they know how important they are to the organisation. Without them we do not exist. I am a team worker and part of an award winning team. I enjoy working with people. In my years at this organisation I have learned that the importance of building relationships because without our stakeholders the organisation would suffer. I enjoy negotiating with stakeholders the most. I also enjoy positive results. the mos challenging aspect is convincing the public to give of themselves and become committed donors. Dealing with apathy toward donating blood is challenging but we we conduct education to inform them.

Pros: Opportunity for growth within my career
Cons: Long daily commute from Pretoria to Johannesburg

Saving Lives is the best reward- NGO Medical

My typical day revolves around meetings, planning and strategising regarding organisation needs analysis and new training programs to be implemented based on needs analysis, both short and long term. I have a team of 17 staff. they look up to me as a leader. i have an open door policy and they confide and confer with me as need be. I enjoy been kept in the loop regarding their operation reports both directly and via monthly reporting.I have learnt that your people make you business successful. I enjoy most working with the people I work with. I enjoy cultivating a learning culture and challenging people to be the best that they can be. I enjoy coaching and mentoring people. The challenging aspects is getting things done timeously due the layered organisation, authorizations go via many people. I am super efficient and these delays annoy me. I find myself running after people in order to ensure my department runs smoothly.

Pros: Lots of opportunities to learn
Cons: Slow reaction time- too much red tape

I enjoy working with different stakeholders and a well formalized project management environment

I have been in Project Management for the past 13 years and until recently was in a Project Management role for South African Blood Services. I was responsible for managing all IT projects (Infrastructure and Multiple SAP ERP project implementations). I am a highly motivated Senior Project Manager with years of experience, responsible for planning, executing and evaluating projects according to predetermined timelines and budgets including all the organizations project governance guidelines. It gives me greater joy by being involved from the concept phase of projects (from the concept including the development of the business case) and understanding what the project is trying to achieve .I always hope that all projects initiated by business support the overall business\organisations strategic objectives. I would like to work with people who will review project deliverables after a few years and check that the project has actually delivered what business was expecting from the implementation. d.

Pros: Work very will with building solid relationships with all stakeholders
Cons: Working with projects that are not supported buy the company executives

Team work

I have a great relationship with my team members, we are allocated for different zone as SHEQ coordinators however we assist one another when there is a need, I have learnt to work in a team, to be punctual our team is called the perfectionist team in the company, I enjoy training or rather knowledge sharing with coworkers, the most challenging aspect of my job is to maintain a 100% noncompliance closure as this require the work area who bridge the standard to corporate, it is achievable however as team effort

Pros: Great exposure in working with all company stakeholders
Cons: lots of traveling
