Excellent

CENTRIFUGAL PUMPS Routine checks on single and multi-stage pumps Servicing of pump auxiliaries, i.e. filters strainers, coolers etc. Overhaul of both single and multi-stage pumps. Clearances, bearing replacements, seal replacement pressure testing, installation, laser alignment and final handover to operations. Vibration capture of rotating equipment such as pumps, compressors, turbines, motors and fin fans. Documentation and QCP (Quality Control Plan) TURBINES Overhaul of single stage impulse turbine. Installation, commissioning, handover and documentation Set over speed trip COMPRESSORS Overhaul of reciprocating compressor. Replacing parts such as: rider rings, piston rings, valves, bearing and liners. Un-loader overhaul.

Good for learning getting experience on Turbines

Environment makes one Safety Conscious and improves positive attitude.There is no room for misbehavior, everyone is treated with dignity.Though elements may avail themselves they are dealt with in a constructive way

Pros: Great opportunity for career growth
Cons: Contracted for long period because of lack of continuity in projects.Length of project determine length of employment.

Union and Political Interferance

The company is wonderful company to work for. The biggest problem which even hampers the company's financial performance and explains great employee turnover, is the Political interfaces which in turn influence labour union unrest

N6 Mechanical engineering

I'm mesuli Nhlengethwa with N6 and Trade Test in Mechanical engineering with 4 to 5 years experience in heavy industry doing maintenance on the turbine machine, pumps and gearbox

I learned more about valves Now I know how to refabridge the valve And I know what to check if the valve is still okay or what So I have experience on the plant and underground

It has been an eye opener.

I work in shifts, I am responsible for supplying all the tools that are needed at any particular shift. I am also responsible for booking them back in the stores once the job has been completed. If there are broken tools I have to log them and establish the cause of such breakage and whether the tool needs to be fixed or replaced. I am also responsible for the tools inventory and I am the one who is answerable to the auditors when they do their audits. I also pur requisition for any inventory needed in stores.

Pros: this job has taught me to be responsible for everything that falls under my domain.
Cons: we happen to work very long hours.

Had a great insight on Turbines through the company.

A big company with great prospects when you get an opportunity to be employed permanent. It encourages self motivation,growth in terms of skill and experience.It highlights that engineering is broad field through aspects that I come across as I work and went through in-house training.

Pros: Opportunity to rise to the top.
Cons: Dangerous environment in terms of health and safety.
