Making a difference

Despite various legacy issues, my purpose each day is to make a difference in the lives of colleagues and clients. It certainly takes time to resolve challenges in a DFI; but based on experience acquired over the years, fundamental business principles get's momentum going. Understanding how the business operates in practical terms, provides insight when it comes to strategy development, project execution, operational optimisation and performance reporting.

Soothing

I have 14 years of experience in governance, risk management and internal control with experience in liaising with senior management and board members throughout my career as my audit reports are positioned to C-level executives which are discussed and presented at executive level meetings. I believe this suitably qualifies me evaluate the external audit plan and safeguarding of assets to ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations. As a differentiator, I am well skilled in IT which is generally a scarce skill on the Audit Committee panel but a necessary one to highlight potential oversight of technological risks as well as ensuring adequate governance in accordance with King IV.

Really enjoyed working toward common goals in a team environment.

It was wonderful working in a team environment t. My typical day would consist of manipulating data on spreadsheets, client engagement and risk analysis. Learning from home was a challanges. rting and updating

Am good in communication, respect, humble and innocent

I only work monday to fridaty, and overtime if neccessary i enjoy work as a tean , as it helps to learn more from different people I learnt to worl without supervision and also enjoy guidence from above I enjoy working with my managers because i learnt more things from them and work without supervision The most challeng if when we deal with external client, it make me strong because i know they are the one who make our business to be stronger and also make my kids to get food everyday

Excellent learning curve

Working at Land Bank was exciting. Almost everyday , I would learn something new from Excel formula’s , to insurance disciples and underwriting almost everyday . I had a very good relationship with my manager and senior actuarial analyst. My relentless efforts were greatly appreciated and my manager guided me throughout the entire period . He understood me and would always test my abilities and I would always try my utmost to pass the test at hand .

Pros: Good teamwork
Cons: No opportunity for promotions or being absorbed in the company

Passion

Have great passion in assisting in the growth and development of people, especially young graduates coming into the development finance industry. The Land Bank is doing great work in the agricultural sector regarding development of small black farmers.

Excellent

I am a hands on manager, very professional and pay attention to details. Have a good relationship with Executive management since I serve their business units at a strategic level. Co - workers respect me because of my HR experts competencies. Lesson learnt is that stakeholder relationship is important to understand their HR needs. I enjoyed assisting the employees in all the HR challenges that they experience at work place. Challenging aspects is dealing with difficult clients/ employees.

Challenging working environment for a young woman of colour

oceries,inventory, stationery as well as ensuring that rent, water and electricity are paid timeously. I enjoy most about my job interacting with client as I am also the face of the office and always getting good feedback from them. The most challenging spect currently is having to ask senior staff to update information on our client list as I do reports weekly.

Cons: Lower pay grade staff are treated badly
