Coming in to Eskom at an entry level you are required to undergo significant training. This includes lectures and tests on the various processes on the plant. Unfortunately the plant is in a remote location which means a long commute to and from work.

Eskom the best
ESKOM has been the biggest organisation and has a lot of experineced people. The company give learners, suppliers opportunities and it trains its poeple well. they create jobs for maths and science students and encouraged their leraners to learn more and have excesive knowledge as they are the CEO's of tomorrow.

Was given a chance to upskill myself and get qualifications
Eskom is a very good company it groomed me. I learned to work as a team, the co workers and management they are very kind and friendly The day began with morning meetings to review previous day tasks. I learned effective communication and reporting on time. Team work is recommended at all times to achieve favorable results In general the workplace is incredible. I enjoyed group activity as one would have opportunity to solve queries rising. Management is good.

Excellent learning, opportunity for growth,
Good company to work for. Big company . Lately there is an issue of job security as the company is perceived to have too many employees. The perks are good compared to most employers

Current work
I have a good relationship with my colleagues and my team. Through maintaining a good relationship I have learnt that we can achieve a lot and we have done so by improving plants which were struggling to reach the targets set by the company. I enjoy analyzing technical problems and coming up with the solution is the most satisfying thing at work. The most challenging aspects in a work place is working with a team which doesn't have the interest of the company.

Excellent Learning environment
Working in the energy sector, electricity to be precise is an interesting journey. One can never say they have a genuine typical day. Working in a the type of company that I work for is always filled with unexpected curve ball on daily basis. Good interpersonal relations with colleagues is one of the vital characteristics that one needs to have in their arsenal. when in the communication and stakeholder department, one needs to have very close and two way beneficial relations with other workers as their knowledge goes a long way in understanding the ins and outs of the business.

Growth Opportunities
The company is very supportive in terms of career paths and workwise. The benefits are great especially if you work in areas far from Gauteng. I work very well with my team including project managers, engineers, quality personnel etc.

Learning curve at Eskom
The work at Eskom is very excellent and provides a good learning environment. On a typical work day, I receive calls from other staff asking for technical advice for the milling plant. I have a good working relationship with the mechanical maintenance guys as wells as the operation guys. So far I have learnt a lot of things working here mainly work ethics and skills to enhance my problem solving ability. What I enjoy the most about this job is meeting new challenges and applying my mind to solve certain problems. The most challenging aspect of this job is that sometimes you have to work a lot of hours outside the normal working hours and sometimes sacrificing weekends.

Slow career growth
