Individual learner facilitation

Eskom is a great company to work for good frinch benefits, excellent training programmes. We work a 8 day working shift from monday to friday and every second week overtime as per circulation between storeperson and works co-ordinator. Excellent relationship with co-workers sometimes difficult because people are dinamic but we try to bring out the best in the work place. I have learned a lot at eskom such as warehouse control, receiving, issuing and verification of orders. I enjoy going training programmes there is where you meet other colleques of the company. People who explore in live and take every opportunity they get and you get encourage by there drive. Stock count, asset reconcilliation is a challenge they said you never get a 100% audit in Eskom but every time I make it and put the local service centre no 1 in the region and that is very chellenging.

Pros: From storeperson to senior store's and adninistration clerk
Cons: overtime when we do maintenance on line's and shutdowns to restore network optimisation.

Prefect for begining technician who only want to specilized in there field of expectise

In short Eskom for narrows once ability, it channels you to one specific aspect of the job, for e.g. if you are a technician will never know the project phases and standard but execute the final product.

Pros: It cares of it's employees H&S, that i must congradulate.
Cons: No adequate IDP

Protection Technician

Four years ago I have graduated and received the title of Technician in Electrical Engineering from the Faculty of Engineering, Tshwane University of Technology. I consider myself as well organized professional, with sound knowledgebase about electrical engineering, able to do multiple tasks at once, and manage a team. I am good in communication, and proven leader, which is verified by several successful project implementations, listed in enclosure to this letter. As a most relevant to the advertised post I would like to point out that I have been working as an Electrical Technician for Eskom for six consecutive years. My responsibilities there included Power system studies and Protection settings (grading), selection of Current transformers and conductor ratings.

I've learned lot of things like fault finding how to use a multimeter tester

So far i want move to a higher level than the one I was working right now i want to upgrade my skill and what i was doing is to do line maintenance line construction fault finding cable jointing

Pros: Mostly i like to work in a group so that we can share the ideas and be a brothers keeper
Cons: I enjoy working normal hours but not saying if there's a need of working after hours i couldn't manage like if there's a break down

Head of Design

My typical day at work is basically having a chat in the morning with all members of the team about project progress on all the project on the table to understand the challenges and the need for support where applicable, as management I am always willing to look at better ways to create a safe and learning friendly environment where all member feel safe to share their experiences and challenge one another on technical issues, what I have learnt in this position is dealing with people on its own is a very peculiar skill that every leader must learn and master if the leader is to unleash the potential in every employee which unfortunately is not part of the engineering curriculum so most of the technical people are not that good on the softer side of human issues. I really enjoy applying my engineering intuition to solve complex engineering problems.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills, computer skills in Ms office, Honesty and integrity, good presentation skills, time management, ability to perform accurately and methodically under pressure and manage large volume of work.

Excellent electricity or power distribution industry for light and heavy current engineers.

Basically what I do daily is to assist the senior engineers on their technical work such as setting up the equipment, validating the data, programming PLCs and doing research for them on certain subjects such as the latest technology developments including renewable integration into the national grid, FACTS devices applications on the distribution network, the improvement of the battery systems currently used at the substations, etc.

Pros: There is so much to learn.
Cons: Too much work in the short period of time ending making unplanned overtime hours.
