Department of Transport Reviews

High energy, confident professional with an infectious enthusiasm for technology.

I am currently an administration clerk for Department of Transport under mechanical workshop department, I always say my job is to take care of all administrative details so that the department can deliver in all the community. My relationship with the other employees is very good, especially with those I work hand in hand with. I have a learned so much for example in dealing with a very hard people because when I am doing the quotations not everyone is having a good attitude but I have to be very polite. I enjoy working with people, as a transport officer as well as a costing clerk, both of these give you some time to know more about things that is happening in our surroundings.

Pros: A new job will push me out of my comfort zone which can often be the ideal way to expand my skill set and push me to a higher performance level.
Cons: Working hard is very much important, and a trust, and give your all in a company.

I've learn how to work with people, under presure, how to communicate wth clients, listening skills.

I'm working at Finance section and I also rotate to the whole section for an example Budget, Revenue, Salaries, Payments, Expenditure and Supply chain Management. I appreciate all the experience that my Supervisors gave it to me with all respect that I gave them with nice relationship. I've learnt a lot how to capture payments on the system using BAS and PERSAL, Reconciliation of Revenue from SAPO, How to load the Budget for the whole Department. I've enjoy all the training that I've attend.

Pros: All that i deserve
Cons: I called the workshop for the Revenue Section where we deal with the South African Post Office, where we deal with their Returns meaning Motor vehicle Disbursement. Every week they suppose to post their weekly MVL Transactions so that every month we reconcile our data.

Versatile and innovation

Working with the board is an eye opener. I learn more about the company as I go. I master my job to produce accurate minutes and meeting packs. It helps me learn more about a group and individual this enhancing my people skills and diversity management. I l am an expert in following up on decisionsemanating form the previous meeting to ensure implementation. I work well alone and within a group. I've learned to communicate and to interact well with people from different levels with different background. I am responsible, accountable, matured, loyal and transparent. I have the ability to deal and handle confidential information and that which is meant for public consumption. I am assertive, proactive and have the ability to initiate new things. I work well unsupervised. The most challenging part of this job is to get documents from stakeholders on time to compile a meeting pack and reports to be discussed at the meeting.

Pros: Information hub/engine and learning platform
Cons: Challenge in getting documents to be discussed at the meeting.

Great environment for learning, there are lot of challenges

I have excellent references and would be delighted to discuss any possible vacancy with you at your convenience. In case you do not have any suitable openings now, I would be grateful if you would keep my CV on file for any future possibilities The nature of my Technical support course has prepared me for this position. It involved a great deal of independent research, requiring initiative, self-motivation and a wide range of skills. For one course, A+, N+, an understanding of the Information Technology industry was essential. I found this subject very stimulating.

Pros: they know how to train and make one to be succesful
Cons: very challenging place

Excellent experience

First time employment in public service, great exposure to policies and constitution. However the public service mentality hampers services, and the red tapes are of concern. If one is not belong to a since group discrimination and elimination are show to make you exit that workplace

Pros: Was a memorable experience
Cons: Public service mentality

please refer to CV my typical day is interacting/liaising with internal and external Stakeholders. Team work is essential, as I am liaising with 14 different user departments in one day. the mandate is to mitigate fleet risks. I work with a diverse group of stakeholders from different backgrounds, cultural groups, and communication is vital. Challenges in the workplace is mostly the network infrastructure, and no system in place. Reports are generated from MS Excel spreadsheets. IT still needs to develop systems.
