Would like to get back into the FMCG environment or similar related industry

Cummins is a Multinational company with a key objective to expand its footprint into Africa. I was responsible for the full finance function for the Southern African region, this included South Africa, Mozambique, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Botswana and Namibia. I am still on the Board of these entities and also serve as Chairman for the Cummins umbrella fund. I inter act with the local leadership teams and manage the finance staff on a day to day basis. The challenges in the role, are the complexity of the business due to the varied revenue streams, the diversified customer base and numerous challenges in doing business in the different African countries.

Pros: I believe this role would offer a challenge to me, but also I believe that I would be invigorated by being in this fast moving, competitive industry. With product innovation a key differentiator.
Cons: Salary is less than currently on, but hopefully can create long term wealth and go incentives for performance.

Excellent learning carve

I am self motivated hardworking lady with good communication and interpersonal skills. I enjoy dealing with people, thus, my studies and work experience in the Hospitality and Tourism industry. I also worked as HR Assistant at Lubbe Construction. I consider myself a critical and innovative thinker. Very good learning process and more closure for interdependence departmental structures

Cummins is an old and very big company with too many inter departments. it is very challenging with internal processes against project ETA and Service SLA. The end users are also not familiar with their support structure so you require as much details you can acquire in order to deliver as per request. We also rely to Global support structure ins some of the application which also make it very difficult to managed with times and availability of users or approvals. Cummins is a good company for job security as is already established and doing very well to its competitors. is unfortunate that I m in Cummins via agent and we are more that 20000 users from the same agent which makes it very difficult to get into Cummins. I agreed to contract work as I had to move it Gauteng due to family matters. I wouldn't mind to work for Cummins till my retirement but not under agent hence I m looking for Job security rather than the Global overview of the company.

Pros: Not really and most post are not advertised only announcements
Cons: Comfortable working hours but working in IT required issues to be resolved irregardless of time and service to be delivered as estimated

Technical Support Specialist

In my role I get engaged as soon as we receive a failed engine from the customer, I collect all the evidence for review at a later stage for decision making (warranty or payable). I get involved with the teardown of the engine, compile a failure report with the cause of failure, recommendations and repair options to the customer. We have a solid team of highly technical people and work well together, we learn from each other on a daily basis. I enjoy travelling to mine site to resolve hard to diagnose issues, the challenges that we face is lack of information from sites where people require assistance. Sometimes people do not want to provide the required information which makes it difficult to determine the root cause of engine failure.

Pros: There is opportunities for growth as I have progress until I was a site manager in one of our biggest OEM site
Cons: The pressure is always on, managing customer expectation can be difficult

Excellent learning curve

Nice job to wake up to every morning to go do at workplace. The relationship I have with my co-workers is amazing. They include everybody, they do not discriminate. I have a learnt how to analyze raw data and convert it to a simpler form for people to understand. Using excel, cognos and rascal. I enjoy interacting with people from different countries that we do business with. Nothing about my job is challenging because if I can't do something the is someone available to show me hoe it is done. The only problem I face is not having a qualification for the position.

My typical day at work include providing desk-side support, telephone, Skype or email support. I have a good relationship with my co-workers. I have learnt that a team that works together is a team that wins together. I enjoy transferring knowledge to the new joiners. I learned how to provide excellent customer service, meet and exceed customer expectations.
