Cape Union Mart is a great company to work for, being an outdoor and adventure store there's so much to offer customers. You get to meet various of different types of customers from all over the world, who enjoys travelling and exploring the world. Meeting different races, culture and traditions is like learning sharpening the rainbow nation.

Cons: lack of public transport and stuff transport

Great learning opportunity

Cum has a great company culture driven by trust, innovation and passion for its people. The leadership is very people oriented however there are few senior execs that practice this.

Cons: No opportunity for mentorship. Long hours and extensive travel hinder work life balance

Great learning curve

I am young keen who is self – motivated, I have good a interpersonal relations and good communicating skills, I am a very fast learner and hardworking team player who can be able to work without supervision and very good in time keeping. I have completed my matric in 2007 and I’m currently studying Office Admin diploma with Quest Computer Skills Centre. I am currently working for cape union mart for four years now, I am one responsible, reliable, Loyal, supportive and committed to quality. One person who always looking for solutions to solve problems and willing to walk a mile to get things done and self – disciplined competent candidate. Your consideration of this application will be highly appreciated in this regard

Innovative and Business oriantated

A typical day at work would be a broad list of duties from ensuring the neatness of the store is up to standard, ensure bar coding and pricing is correct. Is sale are being launched i manage and merchandise appropriate areas of the store. Ensuring the store goes through seasonal change to optimize sales. Merchandise the store to assist the store in making turn over basically. I have a good relationship and have an open mind when meeting people I have learned how to guide people into similar roles and can run event up 250 people. I enjoy the creative aspect of my job after the research to find the appropriate location for certain stock Challenging part of being a merchandiser is trying to make the store look full with low levels of stock

I interacting with customers

At Cape union mart we always make sure that we give our best products to customers and sell what they need. We always help each other when looking for a product or need more information about it. The challenge is that some customers come with their moods and take it out on us that are only trying to make their shopping easier. I have learnt that not all people are the same and also that teamwork is key to most things

Good exposure to another level of retail

I am a leader of a sales team and I make it a point that they are always motivated and ready to achieve that sales targets. I have learnt a lot of product knowledge and different retail strategy on how to enhance and develop a relationship with fellow employees and clients. I enjoy working with people and see the hard work turning to achievements and goals , I enjoy motivating the team and the most challenging part of my work finding a replacement strategy and convince my team that the initial strategy did not work and finally making them to abiode and accept the new strategy

Excellent learning curve

I am just a little bit unhappy because I am working so long for the company and they haven't mad me permanent as yet and would like to find a permanent position somewhere.

Pros: Great opportunity for learning. They teach you what ever you want to know but you have to ask or to tell them you ready.
Cons: Working 3-4 days a week

Great company ever

Doing training daily, cashier supervision, opening and closing. Good team working is being practiced here at Cape Union Mart. Most of the companies are employing candidates from Cape Union Mart knowing that customer service is being practiced in cape union mart

Working for cape union mart is one of the greatest opportunity I ever had. I'm working with new team as I promoted my assistant leader to managerial post Mashudu & 3 Mosibudi,David & Anastatia casuals to permanent across the company. I'm currently leading my store & Keedo store manager report to me as their senior manager
