Worleyparsons Reviews

Just one more exciting day!

My typical day at the office starts quite early, around 6:30 AM. First, a good cup of coffee, then a quick review of emails, actions and delegations to staff. Around 08:00 AM I typically have a quick 30-minute meeting with my team (Twofold objective here!) A) where are we with issues raised (projects, contracts, as examples.), and B) I what to look everyone in the eye ... See how are my team members are doing! If any one member appears stressed, burned out, demotivated they need help from the remainder of us. Then it is time for meetings with clients, vendors, contractors and even occasionally fellow senior managers regarding an array of issues. Back in the office, I might review several contracts, proposals and even the occasional fee estimate followed by comments to my team, preferably face to face (I refer to this as technical privacy time also know as mentoring). The most challenging aspect of my day to day interactions is dealing with clients emotions and expectations.

Pros: Never a dull moment!
Cons: Yes, some days can become very stretched!

Marius Coetzer working at WorleyParsons

I am currently working on a great EPCM project of a company in OMAN . I it very challenging especially the way they negotiate any the personal habit which the Arab people has. This is also the first time that I am involve with a process plant and it is good to experience new engineering detail. What is most enjoyable is the new knowledge in regard to the process and working procedures of the Arab people working on this project and the most challenging is the fact that just when you think that every thing is finish with the design of negotiations they with come and try to get more discount or come with a cheaper design.

Pros: Good leader and willing to solve problems
Cons: Balancing personal life and work. Tend to work to much

Excellent place to learn and network

Typical work day can include opportunity to challenge your thinking as you work on challenging engineering projects that require thinking differently to solve problems. In general there is a team spirit where co-workers work together and support one another to come up with solutions and further their careers. I have learnt how to work with people from different backgrounds and with teams sitting in different locations around the world. I have how best to support teams in order to achieve high performance with tight deadlines. I enjoy my co-workers and learning opportunities the most. Working on projects that have demanding time frames and engineering challenges can be difficult but it helps develop your way of thinking and makes work interesting every day.

Pros: Great learning opportunities
Cons: Low Salary
