Woodlands Dairy Reviews

I great company to work for but no growth

I start my day with invoicing and cold calling on customers. Then I have to process the orders and arrange deliveries for the clients. I do regional support as I am satiated at Head Office. I help my peers with their work and give guidance where necessary. I also do international trade where I have to arrange permits to state vet authorities and book containers do the bills of entry and invoice the respective clients I have a good working relationship with my co workers as we always help out each other where we get stuck. I have learnt that teamwork is of upmost importance and learning the international trade environment was most challenging but I enjoy it the most as it keeps on changing with the new laws. helping a customer is what I most enjoy about my work and hearing that satisfactory voice of thanksgiving from the client.

Pros: Fast growing company
Cons: Long working hours

Jeneve's typical days at work

I am a very reliable asset to the company and to my department in terms of her abilities and skills. Currently I am leading a team of clerks and I report directly to the Production Manager. I am always willing to assist wherever I can and supports my team in the office, which is one of my strong points. I am self-driven, have good discipline, motivated and my negative points is that I do not want to work with snails (people that don’t see the importance of time management) because I believe in making my deadlines and people making the same mistakes daily also frustrates me a lot. I am a good team player and likes to work with a diverse culture and has good communication skills. I will rate my computer skills 10 out of 10. my KPI’S must be clear because I am very goal orientated but get bored sometimes if I cannot priorities my duties due to unnecessary workloads from my seniors.

Pros: you learn alot at this company, but there is no room for growth
Cons: work 7 days a week . not having time to socialise with family and friends

Excellent learning curve

Woodlands dairy is a great place to wok. Especially if you want to get exposure and apply what you have learned. There's plenty of room for new ideas. I report to the GM of HR, because he employed me to run staff surveys and interviews. I enjoy working with people because one of the reasons I chose HR was to study human behaviour. I meet with 5 employees a day and ask them personal but work related questions. Things like how their families are doing because what happens at home could affect ones performance. I am expected to do 100 employees a month. I also run any other project that the GM gives me. Like informing departments from PE to Humansdorp about how grievances operate and the importance of whistle blowing. I have incorporated an anonymous survey that helps to expose the departments criminal activities and also the issues that the staff needs to deal with on a daily basis. I also Do admin work like filing, capturing leave, sending regrets to applicants. I also attend hearings.

Pros: We get loads of exposure.
Cons: My post has not been created yet and I am on a 12 month contract

I currently work in the IR and Training department

I arrive at work 30 minutes before time, to check emails and respond to it. Make a cup of coffee have a chat with my colleagues before 08:00. Then would either be capturing leave on VIP system, or warning. Attend to disciplinary hearings, interviews or inductions. File documents on employee files. Booking training for people arrange food an venues, making out invoices for payments. Attend to departments and to develop processes that is easy to work around. However each day would vary. We are a group of 13 people in our HR team 3 Interns, 2 HR Officers, 3 Junior HR Officers, 1 Training Coordinator, 1 Training Officer, 1 HR Superintendent. 1 HR Manager and our HR GM. I have a vary good relationship with all of them. I have work in both the HR management and Training sides and have learned a lot. I would say I enjoy work in IR and Training but still have a lot to learn. The most challenging things is difficulty to change in my department.

Pros: I am in promotion to become a Junior HR Officer
Cons: I focus alot on my job

I have grown tremendously over the past 5 years employeed at Woodlands Dairy .

I have started as Senior credit controller at Woodlands dairy, based on my performance and the urge to grow in the company, I was promoted to Sales Admin Supervisor. My role as a supervisor has taken me to places within the company. Dealing directly with management, sitting in on exco management meetings, meet customers, meet sales targets, travel to other regions to meet clients, supply our customer needs, dealing with finance dept, our warehouses / distribution centres in other regions, opening of new customers accounts for all the regions. I am dealing with 8 staff members reporting directly to me. We deal with the COD customers, phone daily for customers orders, prepare invoicing, process credits for returns/damaged stock and reconcile month ends stocks vs invoices/ credits.

Pros: I need career growth and development.
Cons: No room for growth within the department.

I am proud of what ever work I do in a company.

I currently working closely with customers. taking orders, printing of invoices see that there is stock available and accurate invoicing. I also plan routes of trucks and assist when there is no stock available. I also help with complain and to sort out. I really like working in a team and to learn from each other . What I enjoy most about my work is a smooth day at work that all co- workers and customers is happy.

Goal Driven and Dedicated

My typical working day is to track all Invoices documents due to be paid, to audit all Invoices are regulated orderly so I can capture them for month end payments, to reconcile weekly Bank Statements and also for the new week of the new month to do Audits on various departments for Items shipped for distribution. It takes longer hours, I meet the management and Exco Management sometimes to confirm the most Capex Documents for signatures, that's my typical working day. I have the best colleagues, we respect and assist each other alot when it comes out daily work schedule, assistance in completing or organising work due. I have learnt hardwork, resilience and being focus are the most important things that can grow and succeed you to be the best on the field I am working with. Everything under my description of the work because I learn new things every day, it never stops. Long hours are the most challenging which I am learning to adapt.

Pros: Best department for one to learn Accounting work
Cons: No growth in terms of work opportunities and promotions

Excellent Working Environment

I was a very good learning curve, where I worked in a Maintenance Stores Department. I learned a lot concerning Engineering, where we kept spares and tools that were in need for repairs and maintenance of company machinery.

Pros: Good working environment
Cons: No opportunity for growth

Opportunity for development

A typical work month would include working 3 rotating shifts of 8 hours and one 30 minute lunch. Me and my co-workers had mutual respect for one another. The company offered various workshops and courses which I attended, I was also studying Logistics for 2 years that the company payed half of the money for. I enjoyed the free beverages that we got at the cafeteria some times. The end of year functions that we had were the company contributed R 120 per person. The most challenging aspects of the job was to come up with new solutions to solve a problem or to prevent a problem from happening. Also staying focused on doing things as effective end efficient as possible.

Pros: Good opportunity for development
Cons: working shifts
