Wits University Reviews

Growth

Typical day consists basics of my job nature where supervise staff and offer expertise when required. It is not easy to work here but that taught me that not everything comes easy in life especially at work environment. Through my showing my abilities to lead co-worker show a great respect towards me. This is one of the reasons to prove that you do not have e to be strict for your orders to be undertaken. I enjoy bringing new knowledge to my co-workers as it shows that I am changing something in them. Trying to convince my manager of different ways to do certain things is a steep hill exercise.

Pros: Nominated to be part of the committee formed to sort out filing issues
Cons: Working hours not flexible

Wits is diverse I have learnt many skills. I have really enjoyed working there it has afforded me the opportunity to interact with different people from all different backgrounds. I have enjoyed working with my team. Meeting international collaborators and being main point of contact was the best experience ever. The most challenging aspects of my job was when I had to book articles at the last minutes. My good interpersonal skills played a major role in achieving my task.

Challenging position

I would like to be considered for the above position I believe that with my experience accompanied by my qualifications I will be more than equipped to achieve the best in this position. I am currently working at Wits University as PA to Head of School. I have been with Wits University since 2011. Prior to that I was a PA to Executive Director a SAAP and NGO organisation since 2007. When I was a PA at SAADP I was exposed to different corporate cultures when loading with stakeholders hence I believe that I will manage very well in this position and intact excell in everything I do. My first position I was a office administrator at UKZN formally known as University of Natal from 2001-2007. I have attached my resume for your perusal and I welcome an opportunity to discuss my suitability for this position. I await your favourable response.

Pros: heathy environment and diverse culture

Good

I was a Postgraduate student at Wits University for 5 years. I was a tutor for 5 years, my duties entailed tutoring first year students who were studying engineering physics and demonstrating for the students first year lab physics. Sometimes I assisted Lectures with the preparation for the tests and exams. The environment was fair.

Pros: Learning and doing research
Cons: no pay

The role of education

My position involves interaction with staff at all levels, constantly. I assist with information on how to improve their skills by either attending any of the inhouse courses on offer or bursary information with regard to completing a qualification. I have a good relationship with my co workers and have learnt the importance of networking. I have learnt that is never too late to improve yourself. I have had cases of staff over the age of 50 finally passing thier matric. I enjoy working with people and the joy on their faces when they are given the opportunity to improve their education and lives, in the long term. For some staff this is the first opportunity for them to further studies. One of my challenges is not having the resources to fulfill my job role to its full capacity.

Pros: study support
Cons: lack of transformation
