Company still lives in the 60's

Good work life balance with a high focus on family, however in the end you are not rewarded for being a top performer. Not driven for improvements and remains doing the same things that was done decades ago

As a product development Engineer, the focus is on optimising and making the products cost-effective, whilst providing daily technical support to production.

Not too much growth

Growth is only minimal, No externall training offered once you join the company. Great leaning experience experience for students. Vesuvius internation is a great learning curve with a number of opportunities. I am grateful for the experince but i feel that i have hit the end. No better position than the one im already in.

Pros: No promotion
Cons: No bonus/13th cheque

Excellent work performance

Daily work regarding SHEQ. I have an excellent working relationship with all the employees. I have learnt to work together with employees. I enjoy doing my work. the most challenging aspect of my work is to work with Humans as you cannot control one no matter how much you educate them they still at time take chances at work

Excellent learning curve

It is a good learning curve because of the variety of machines we have here it gives a good mechanical experience again because of work load and a shortage of artisans the often you work on a machine the better experience you get about the machine

Appentice till trade test fitting

I did my apprentice under section 26 D then mechanical fitter which I become maintaince fitter then due to my qualification in engineering I became project fitter now i am busy with diploma in mechanical enginnering

Excellent learning curve

Vesuvius SA is a refractory company which supplies the steel market with raw material. We sell brick for furnaces, melting liners for steel melting pots.

Pros: Good place to work at people are friendly.
Cons: Management politics

SHEQ Officer

I have the required experience with an excellent work record. I travel extensively to customer locations as well where we have employees working. I have an excellent working relationship with all employees from senior management down to the very last ranking employee. this is part of SHEQ duties. We should be seen as assistance providers rather than policemen.I have leart a lot with regards to the OSHACT and the Mines HSACT.I enjoy my work as every day brings with it new challenges with the most challenging aspect being ---dealing with humans.

Pros: No room for promotion in my current company. I want to also adventure out into other sectors to broaden my experience.

Qualified mechanical fitter done apprentice pass on first attempt working as project fitter

I am qualified mechanical fitter with N6 currently doing a diploma in mechanical engineering I have studied at university of KwaZulu Natal in field of science Bsc4 science foundation programme very motivated quick to learn

Pros: Doing diploma in mechanical engineering
Cons: I work with project until it is successful

Challeges makes a person

I have good relationship with my colleagues and i have realised that working as a groups grooms a person.faultfing is the most challeging thing because you need to think out of the box all the time.

Cons: I have worked night shifts and long hours as well
