Overall good, but the culture is a big blocker to innovation

I have experience directly running and managing software development teams on both Azure and AWS. I have been managing these teams for 3 years now with primarry focus on short-term insurance life insurance digital solutions. Delivered digital solutions include a telematics based mobile application with end to end quote and buy functionality, a funeral insurance chatbot on WhatsApp, a commercial cyber insurance offering

Great company to work for, i am currently unemoloyed, i left sbsa due to retrenchment

Stanadard bank is a great company to work for. I have 13 years experience working with them. I was really sad to leave because of the restructure and retrenchment in 2019 but i would love the opportunity to get back into the corporate world

Excellent Stepping stone for my career

Different from day to day business as it gets very busy on month ends. Have a good working relationship with collegues. I've learnt to be patient and know that my time is coming at the same-time getting what you want to achieve. Interacting with customer and collegues is what i enjoy because it gives me sense of belonging unity. Knocking off late around past 17:00 p.m.

Pros: Less opportunity for promotion
Cons: Too much to do at onetime

Life at Standard Bank

It has been a pleasure working for Standard Bank and I am proudly associated with the brand. I have built up many business relationships across the Banks network and up to today maintain a good relationship with them. I have been in various coaching and mentoring roles. The time has come for a new challenge and I am willing to join any industry.

Pros: You get to work across various group functions eg Group Finance, Group IT, Group Risk, Central Finance, etc.
Cons: Due to the nature of any Global Corporate, it is subject to restructures every 2-3 years to remain relevant. As a result of this we have casualties.

A nice demanding job, learn new skills everyday and the team is so great to work with.

A very nice working environment with the great team as they always there to help.I learnt a lot about Access management and how important it is in the organization, I enjoy working with the team and they make it very easy for me to complete my tasks no matter how difficult they may be.my relationship with the co workers is very good really can’t complain. The most challenging aspects of the job is that I get a very busy day with only few days having to complete my task but I always make sure I get it done.

Pros: Gain more skills as I don’t only focus on one thing
