Excellent learning curve on how not to manage staff
Typical day at work is opening and closing the store, ensure all the staff arrive for their shifts on time otherwise make alternative arrangements. Ensure that bakery and kitchen staff have their daily orders on track, ensure that cashiers are logged onto their till on time. Check any maintenance issues, fridges walk in freezers and call appropriate maintenance contractor for repairs., Check daily reports, incident reports from the night before. Place orders with suppliers, interview new staff and ensure the operation runs smoothly

It was a good,learning curve on a Management training view
Although a managers in retail I missed IT too much. Software and problem. Solving IT issues is more my field.. The company as a group is good but as an individual store run by owners not so good. Staff treated poorly, paid poorly and no room for promotions.
Pros: Good training field for Management positions
Cons: long hours as in 14 days no off days, no promotion positions available

Excellent learning curve
It was an excellent learning curve but lacked the team work and poor communication and training of staff. Staff were hard working willing to put in extra hours but training was poor and were not appreciated. Overall Spar as a group is not bad at all

Excellent learning experience
Good company to work for but the branch had poor managers. No proper training and managers did not care about their staff. No proper guidelines for the staff to follow but this was a branch not a Corporate issue

Its was educational
Opening / closing store, interview, stock rotation, manage 60+ staff, oversee store operation, assist on rolls at busy times, maintenance, staff manament, stock control, place orders with suppliers and DC. Oversee bakery and kitchen orders are on time
Pros: Good work experience
Cons: Poor senior Management, no team work, no concern over staff wellbeing

Excellent learning curve
Although it was an excellent learning curve I found that the Management were not very computer literate. Lacked Management skills and treated their staff poorly. However this is not the group but the store only. Excellent staff.

Excellent learning curvecurve
Not a bad company to work for but individual store have poor training or no training to staff. Poor Management but good non Management staff. I found it a bit of a racist store and favouritism of some staff over others ruled.
Pros: Great staff easy to work with
Cons: long hours, poor Management, racist when it came to promotions
