Overview of work day

A typical work day is working from my tick list and attending to ad-hoc work during the day and assisting where I can. We are a little family at work and work well as a team. I've learnt a lot over the years and still learning new things daily. I enjoy my work and take pride in what I do. The most challenging aspects of the job is getting to work and back due to traffic... I have my own vehicle and we use to be based in Brackenfell but moved to Maitland. it takes me an hour to get to work as well as an hour home... this is the reason I'm seeking other job opportunities in the Northern Suburbs as my home town. Thank you.

Pros: Great opportunity for 13th Cheque and increase
Cons: Traffic to work

METHOD VALIDATION

WORKING AT SGS South Africa you learn new things everyday. It is quite a challenging environment which is what I like because it keeps you at your peak. The most recent resent challenge I encountered was developing a new method for the department and also doing method validation for the method which ended up being accredited by SANAS. The most challenging part is the pressure that comes with the position, there is lot of pressure from the clients and the lab itself

Pros: good challenging work
Cons: pressure

A stable start to an entry-level career

Working for this company had started off well, as I was there to learn and I embraced it to enhance my professional skills. I've worked here for 2 years, however I sense that due to factors out of my control, the company has opted to limit its internship programs and to keep interns in 12-month contracts at a time. At the moment, it's unlikely for an intern to be absorbed permanently, except for few and limited exceptions. I have a cordial relationship with my co-workers and colleagues I share a working space with. Most of my work has been centred on administration and internal communication.

Pros: Great learning opportunities, cross-functional training
Cons: Little chance of post-internship absorption, Lack of career support from HR
