Great learning experience

It was a challenging and very exciting experience learning about new things and closing sales deals felt good, Supervising staff as well was a bit challenging at first until i came up with different activities to involve them and encouraging team work as well. i learned a lot and improved a lot on both personal and professional levels. My strength improved as well and i worked on my abilities to be incharge. i enjoyed communicating with clients a lot as it taught me to understand most of their needs and different products needs. the most difficult and challenging aspects was sometimes to fulfill some of the promises especially with stock delivery due to shortage of stock.

Good chance for growth

Excellent career growth; challenging but opens ones mind and helps to set a standard professionally. working with co workers was good, getting the work done. working with customers was a challenge but the main focus was to get the job done.

A typical work day

Being Production planner i must be at work at 7h30 in the morning and then do a daily planning for the Production team based on orders processed on ERP system, I then search further for more work for the team using MRP system via our ERP system, when the planning is done I then forward everything to the Production supervisor and manager. I then run a On Time In Full failure report to see the root cause of failed deliveries the previous day, I populate these failures to relevant departments seeking the root cause of the failure and upon receiving the root cause i forward the report to the BI team.

Customer Services Representative

My daily tasks included cold calling, processing orders, ordering stock from other branches, and keeping in contact with my customers. I work alongside 3 fellow team mates and have an excellent relationship. What I have embraced about this opportunity is the fact that I get to work in a sales environment without any prior experience . It is however challenging but am willing to learn everyday. I love and enjoy dealing with customers on a daily basis telephonically or face to face. The most challenging part about my job is cold calling, most times I would have to chat to someone I have never even spoken to before but strive on nonetheless.

Added year of experience

Working at HR typical day starts when i enter work premises and getting quires while walking in to the office.This is what i love most about my job being able to assist, educate and help employees with all the need and seeing the confident they have that i will resolve all their quires.We have an amazing relationship and work feels like home.I have learned as much as you have experience, education and skills,one never stop learning and you learn most to people that are not in your field which helps to master my work.I enjoy most about my job is skills transfer and to hear someone say i didnt know that but come back to be a master of what they didnt know by sharing with other as i believe information is better shared to an extend the person you share with able to relate the message to another.Having to lose employees either through death/disciplinary procedures "loan to bury a loved one or medical aid exhausted and cant get help they need.

Wealth of knowledge and experience gained

It is most unfortunate that I have been retrenched due to a restructuring. My employment at Protea Chemicals has given me so many opportunities to improve myself professionally and personally. I had the opportunity to work independently as well as a part of a dynamic team. Being in the face of the customer was by far the most satisfying part of my job. Work colleagues became family and the relationships built with customers over the years were not only motivating but also rewarding. I enjoyed the flexibility of the job and was given the opportunity to manage my own portfolio in a manner most suitable for me. I have gained immense knowledge in the Chemical Industry including Speciality as well as Commodity type products. (Without any prior knowledge of Chemistry). The most challenging aspect of the job was the rate at which the business changed management structures, which ultimately impacted on service delivery to customers.

Cons: Working away from head office sometimes caused a feeling of being disjointed and working in silos

Maximized throughput and efficiency by revamping delivery schedules and workloads. Develop safety awareness that reduced incidents in the Wax and Oil plant to zero RCR in one year. Hold monthly employee meetings to give information, take feedback, and provide updated training.

Not happy with current employer

I ve been working here for 9 years now and always had salary issues with my boss .I have been over worked and under paid in simple , i have been exploited. Reason being is because one of my supervisor didnt want to see me growing so she tainted my name so badly in such a way that i dont get anything in the company. I am seeking other opportunities because i need to grow my career , and i am very ambitious and a hard worker. I am friendly enjoy working with people , i love what i do and do not mind working underpressure as i know i ve been paid well accordingly can even go extra mile thats me.
