Good Benefits

I have worked as a Technical Officer at the Core Network Field Operations (CNFO) section. You get to attend to installations and faults, as well as conducting maintenance on the network What I enjoyed most was the travelling to the different sites, which can litteraly be found in any corner of your assigned region. Therefore one need not be confined to a desk at all time. The most challenging part is being given a number of faults at the same time, that may need to be resolved within a certain time as to SLA and having to travel between a number of sites that may not be close to one another.

Pros: Good working hours
Cons: Lack of promotion opportunities

Learning curve

To work at openserve on a temp contract does not offer much benefits. I start my day at 7am until 4pm and only taking 45 minutes lunch. I am constantly busy at my desk, whether its emails, urgent requests, daily inputs and driving fibre. I have a good relationship with my co-workers. I get along with everyone. I have learnt how to process fibre orders and a system ICS. I enjoy seeing my list of ISP that I am looking after reduce. I work hard to move my orders and go the extra mile by contacting client directly to verify addresses on the system so that their orders process speedily. I never seem to get the recognition for my efforts. This is challenging for me, knowing that I work twice as hard as permanent employees, but don't get the salary they get.

Pros: Flexi time
Cons: Favouritism

Excellent learning curve

A typical day at work includes verifying addresses on our coverage map, assisting customers with FTTH coverage issues, escalations on contractor complaint and providing Saleable Leads in our FTTH coverage area I have great relationships with my colleagues and learn a lot from them on a daily basis. I enjoy helping customers and colleagues whenever I can. I also enjoy learning from my colleagues. Most challenging part is trying to help a customer when it impossible to do so because of circumstances out of my control.

Pros: The satisfaction of knowing I am able to assist thousands of customers get connected to the internet.
Cons: The limited opportunities available for growth
