Development and growth. Learning

There is a lot of pressure to deal with. Your planned day hardly goes that way. I support line managers and staff. Interaction with a lot of diverse people. Learning how to deal with all kinds of beliefs and backgrounds. I have learned to be independent and think quick.

Pros: Had wonderful opportunity for growth
Cons: The work can get too much one is unable to meet their own set goals

Hard worker, working extra miles

I am working in hospital as a hospital case manager, updating the medical aid the condition of the patient, icd 10 codes ,cpt code, level of care,Mondays are very busy because patient are coming friday night and discharged on sunday ,Monday we update new admissions and those who came over weekend, also monthend we worked extra hours so that we can bill more and make money for the company

Pros: going home after work and all of the patient that I am allocated to has been updated
Cons: working extra hours , and shortage

Great opportunity to work in and the experience has been good

Milpark Hospital is one of the busiest hospitals in Johannesburg. Working in Cardio Thoracic ICU is quite challenging because one has to adapt to nursing critically ill patients most of the time, some of which do not make it. My colleagues and I support one another through such stressful times. On night duty, every one is like family. I have learnt how to have a critical eye and how to react to patients who suddenly become very ill or require emergency care I enjoy seeing our former patients come back to say hello especially our transplant patients, it's such a wonderful feeling.

Pros: Good private health care experience
Cons: It is a very busy unit and the working hours are too long

The things I have learnt in my current work

They taught me so many things, I learnt communication skills, teamwork and to respect other people . They have also developed me of by sending us to school and also organising the inservice trainings from the experts. Lastly I learnt leadership skills.

Learning institution

I have worked for company without growth. I am still the same as I started working for company the only thing is I gained experience. And learn how to work hard and working under pressure. I am a perfectionist what ever I do I dedicate myself.

Excellent learning curve

Cardiothoracic ICU is a great place to work, it has taught me to think and act critically because my patient's life depends on this. CT ICU has quiet moments that is when all our patients are stable, it also has moments when it's so busy with post operative admissions and life threatening post operative complications. It is a great place to work

Good education and experience

Good working environment which provides learning opportunities. Given opportunities to experience new things in different units in hospital experience (e.g) working in theatre,icu and emergency department.

Excellent learning curve

Departmental Secretary: Reception duties, ward rounds, Kronos management, Ward stock ordering and control, Clientele customer care, Incidents Management system, SAP management, Kronos, My market,FMU,Answering phone and transfers, General admin duties, Managing time cards, Problem solving, meetings and minutes. Staff scheduling and bed bookings.

Project was a great learning curve

Discovered the loophole where the money was going This was found from top management This is being monitored hence the project taken into place Pilot worked on other site but sabotage and resistance was rife in this particular site.
