Leadership is my life

I am responsible for conducting research, writing newspaper articles, conference papers, organizing seminars and conferences. I also submit reports and develop contents for the programmes such as public lectures and so son. Local government is a highly politicized terrain and I have learnt to thread careful and develop correct language necessary for the environment. In addition, I have developed skills in engaging external stakeholders and establishing relationship with similar institutions. I well work with colleagues and team player One of the most important thing I like about this current position is that it involves a considerable amount of writing. Writing allows me to reflect critically on issues pertaining to the work I am doing. The most challenging part of my work is the lack of resources because it affects the entire strategy of the office.

Pros: The environment allows a great degree of upward mobility
Cons: Normal working hours

Excellent learning curve

I enjoyed my work because I met different people every day and this has helped me to be able to interact and communicate with people.there were some challenges, for example we had to help people with municipal services there we had to communicate with officials dealing with that and sometimes we would have to nag them before they could assist and this was frustrating at times because it makes us look like we are not doing oyr jobs well. However, it was so satisfying when I went an extra mile to help people and succeeded because it was good to hear them thanking me and appreciating my assistance.I worked very well with my co-workers and I am gona miss them but life goes on.we also organised programmes for youth and women and thi was great because through those programmes we managed to help many people

Pros: Opportunity to help others through our programmes
Cons: Working after hours and sometimes on holidays and weekends

The necessary tenacity and perseverance required by the corporate world has been imprinted within me through experience and working under pressure. I regard hard work as the only way to achieve success. My philosophy I employ is “success itself derives from hard work” and it is this philosophy which keeps me focused on my goals.

Pros: Skills development and working under pressure to adapt to change and stress management

Grey working place

Working as a senior clerk at nelson Mandela bay municipality was very challenging were you had to perfom many duties to make querries for the municipal departments I.e rates, metered services , electricity and energy etc, you need to make attend to customer queries by phone, email and at the counter attend to their queries and forward it to the correct department afterwards do a follow up to see the query has been resolved and further more you also perform duties for receipting sub-section of customer care sanction where you perform cashier duties and bank daily totals of the day , working iin such environment with great people willing to teach you to know the work and very friendly and mostly I learned how important it is to work as team and most challenging thing was shortage of workers resulting in having to rotate in all the offices that the NMBM has in the metro

Pros: Great opportunity to broaden your knowledge within the field
Cons: Shortage of staff

Excellent learning opportunities

- Routine work - Good relations with colleagues - Willing subordinates who always goes an extra mile - I've gained a lot of supervisory and managerial skills while I was acting Manager - I had a lot of opportunities to up skill myself in other disciplines that are not within my my scope of work - I've gained a lot of information and knowledge on healthy living, Hiv/Aids and other related diseases. - The most challenging aspect of my job is not getting enough challenging projects and not getting enough support from management. In addition to this if you come up with positive ideas to benefit the company, the management is not willing to listen or to try them out.

Pros: Getting a lot of training where the up skill us on our present job plus our career paths
Cons: Doing a routine job and my abilities and skills are under utilized.
