It is a company with young energetic people who are hard working

We make bookings for domestic and international flights on a daily basis. I am not competent to do my work.I have a good relationship with my coworkers. I have learned to be independent to work and solve problems on my own. I enjoy being trusted to help the new recruits while doing their training. It's challenging because sometimes some people miss their flights and expect to get their money back . Unfortunately we follow the rules of the tickets.

Pros: I have learned independency and to think out of the box
Cons: I can't see any growth

I started as a Call Centre agent . It was a great move not knowing how challenging it is.

My current position is now Back Office admin which is sometimes challenging . I mostly deal with the Emails to assist passenger which their ticket not issued however payment was made on time. And again pressure when the flights delay or cancelled where I need to notify affected passengers. Or the person veho run the shift also will allocate you what to do for the day so working as a team also good to reach target. It is a very interesting job & the environment .

Pros: Its a great company where you can grow as it has variety of departments working hand on hand. There is no department that can operaye alone as everything that I am doing it starts at Call Centre and end to Ticketing department is our last department to wrap up.

Excellent learning curve

I work for 6 days in a week even though is short hours i spend a lot because some times i knock off at 9pm and spend around zar20 per day .Their night shift allowance is zar1.50 per hour in a month you find i earn zar40 for night shift allowance and you spend more than than in a week. Their managing style is not good because they expect us to provide excellent customer service and yet they do not know how to treat us sometimes you get complement from a customer for good service they never notice but make an error you become the laughing stock to everyone being called an ancestor or a furniture of that company because you have been there for a month. I don't mind working shift. Sometimes you try to apply for leaves they do not approved​ because you working nights shift or early shift so no it's not allowed and some of us we come from Eastern cape and to go there it takes us the whole day and we only allowed to apply for 5days of a leave

Don't know what to say

Merchants is using people and they underpay their stuff, what's sad is that u get a promotion based on who you know in the top position. They over work their employees and would change your schedules like you don't have a personal life, there are managers who you can work with very good and you get other's who can replace you in a split second for doing a tiny mistake, overlooking what you have done for the company.

I have learnt and gained alot since started working at Merchants SAA

I am a team player and communicate well with my co workers. I have learnt how to engage with different people and work together. I enjoy hanging out with friends and colleagues and having fun. Any challenge of any Job can be dealt with accordingly.

Great working environment Good training and we always get updates for new things I have learned to be a hardworker and face challenges head on and also able to work in a team The is no room for growth however a room to always learn new things

Great people to work with and easy to speak to, always helpful and never turn down some one in need

Can work under pressure and love speaking to people can deal with stubborn and bride clients and know how to get a situation under control vibrant and good at multitasking

Customer service

call center service environment customer service Answer incoming calls and respond to customer's emails Management and resolve customer complaints. Processing payments of flight booking and verifying if credit card details are not fraudulent and issue tickets

Good entry level

Great learning environment and opportunity for growth. Training is great and sound on the job_training is constantly reviewed on ongoing process. I will recommend for entry level or students whom are seeking for new career.

Excellent Learning Curve

My day involves responding to emails and answering incoming calls. The work environment is conducive and adaptable. Working for the company at my current capacity has taught me to be independent and work unsupervised and still deliver as required. The challenges faced are merely being far from the airport and have to still advise clients that are at the airport/
