Very little resources to work with

The work environment is usually low pressure, but staffing and other resources are major constraints to productivity. There is little or no opportunity to grow within your career due to constant budget contraints.

Great opportunity to gain knowledge and better understanding of the public sector.

A normal working day at my current employer includes liaising and assisting a lot to external stakeholders including the Auditor-General of South Africa. It is quite a top secrete environment where one meets information of top confidentiality and has to remain strict on access to information.

Pros: Opportunity to gain knowledge about the public sector
Cons: promotion is rare

Excellent learning curve

I get much more grooming and more exposure in financial management principles and people management skills. I have been able to improve my interpersonal relations and time management.

We are given opportunity to further our studies in professional nurse and midwifery

Hillcrest hospital is government hospital which cater for patients with chronic condition( some with cogenital problems and some post motor vehicle accident. Some of them can not verbalise their feelings so as the nurse you must be very observant, be able to to notice change in patients condition and act immediatly. Most of the patients are bed ridden so it is the duty of the nurse that patient do not end up with complications of bed test _ se ensure frequent position anything, passive excecise in bed and physiotherapy.

Pros: It takes time for one to get promoted because people stay long until they retired unless someone resigned and there is a vacant post we work
Cons: We work 40 huors per week and alternate weekend off.
