Working in Grindrod allowed me to gain the followin experience in : Maintain a professional and positive interaction with the team and clients. Provide input as part of the decision making process for IT audit and gather input from other staff where applicable. Demonstrate an understanding and appreciation of the cultural diversity within the business Promote teamwork by motivating colleagues. Create a vibrant working environment, building on proactive attitude and strong work ethic. Create a plan to achieve personal mastery and greater organisational skills, with a view to achieving increased productivity and efficiency in the short term. Assist my superiors in completing tasks allocated to myself, and follow up on queries raised.Maintain and organise tasks to be completed by means of monitoring all tasks allocated to myself. Submit time sheets on a weekly basis to Management Work efficiently according to budget and timelines which are assigned.

Potential to add value
Grindrod comes with many challenges as we are a very diverse company ranging with businesses from shipping , logistics , banking , automotive , terminals etc. The challenge comes in from a group level as you can never have a one size fits all due to the various different industry benchmarks. It is always exciting trying to figure out solutions that will work for the business and the human capital area. I love interacting with my colleagues and providing guidance on aligning business strategy to human strategy. I have learnt over the years that teamwork and collaboration are the key drivers in any business. I love what I do and am very passionate about changing the mindset of HR being a cost centre but rather a value add. The opportunity to have a balanced life-work scenario is a major benefit. Challenges facing us at the moment is the economy and maintaining a business when most businesses are closing doors - we strive to be extra ordinary and working smarter and not harder.

A good start into learning about human resources in a compny.
Updating various databases. Researching and collecting data for various HR initiatives. Performing Reference and background checks. Created new folders and orientation paperwork. Created and organized the existing and new employee files. Gained cxcellent organizational skills. Showed my ability to multitask and prioritize work. Gained strong interpersonal and communication skills through this work experience. I had a good relation with my co-workers. I have learnt the importance of recruitment and training in a company. The most challenging aspects for me was that despite the colleges being nice, the amount of work that I was taught was not the same as what I had been initially told before I signed the contracts, This made me feel limited in many ways.
Pros: It was a meaningful work experience. Gained the ability to handle confidential information in a professional and discrete manner.
Cons: Felt limitied in the amount of work and the systems of working in an hr environment that I had thought I would be taught while I was appointed at this company as an HR Intern.

Hardworking, ability to adapt in any form of invoronment,
-Plan Deliveries as per customer’s requirements -Ensure all pre-loads are dispatched accordingly -I work mostly with drivers by dispatching them to load customer loads, they not really easy people to adapt to especially if your a women, however I have gained so much respect from them over the past few months and our working relationship has grown better -I enjoy being the few female In the industry it allows to prove my capabilities as a hard working women

Fast learner
I have great knowledge of invoice and cash book process ing on pastel and sap.I prepare monthly and weekly's payments,prepare suppliers recons.I have numercy and problem solving. maintained very strong relationships with suppliers and employee.

Want to find position closure to home
Hi, I have a 8 - 4.30 full day work, 5 days a week plus after hours , especially at month end. I always meet me deadlines. I work in a department with 14 other employee's and we all get on well together, it is open plan office. I have always been HR / PAYROLL know I also do a little finance as well. I enjoy a good challenge.

It has been a great learning curve as i did not have an idea of reefer containers
People in this company are amazing people to work with, especially if you are a person with no attitude towards them. the best part about this place is that there are no gossiping around, everyone works well together and makes a good team. I have learnt effective time management and planning. the most challenging aspects of the job for me was that this job requires alot of physical effort because you carry tools around and the are heavy equipment that needs your attention, and mostly the job requires focus.
Pros: you can expand within the company
Cons: overtime, like working sundays and public holidays

Good in working with team
I love working monday's to fridays, and weekend if needed to do so, I have a very good relationship with all my co-,workers, I have learned a lot, especial knowing that as a person you cannot have all the information, we need each other to keep the job going,. I mostly enjoy typing. the most challenging aspects is when I do not have a complete working tools, or net work.
