Gained a wealth of experience regarding the public sector Employee Benefits environment.

Working at GPAA has been an eye opener. Being here has afforded me the opportunity to hone my Team Leader skills which included the application of soft skills and complemented my technical finance skills. A typical starts with an 8 minute meeting, where we review that week that was and plan for the week ahead. I am responsible for allocating, checking and and reviewing work on a daily basis. Over and above this I do Performance Review for the staff I am responsible for. On weekly basis I prepare a report on progress made and encountered as well as resolved issues, this then builds on to a monthly report which I do in arrears (done on the current month for the previous month).

Pros: Great working environment
Cons: Limited growth

Career progression

1. My typical workday begins with a short meeting that outlines priorities of the day. I am currently focusing on a project called the Purchase of Service. My duty at my workplace is to streamline the processes for my department and to make sense and update policy on them. 2. I must say i have a pretty good relationship with my coworkers. I make a distinct difference between work and personal issues. 3. I have learned a lot with regard to individual differences and admire the contributions we make towards each other. I admire and respect other people and the difference they make to my life and my work. 4. I feel happy when I make a difference in my environment. It does however come at the expense of alienation due to the changes I effect. 5. The most challenging aspect of my job is that you do not always have all you need to achieve in you work area. This come in the form of equipment, educational support and other resources in general.

Pros: Learning curve
Cons: Distance from or to workplace

My time at GPAA has been a excellent learning curve and i am now ready to take on a manager role.

My typical day at work is attending to Client queries, making escalation on withdrawal applications. resolving Case and sending out required information to clients. I have a good relationship with my co-workers and consider myself to be an effective team player, and a open person and easy to get along with. I have learnt a lot in terms of dealing with difficult clients, how not to take things personal, avoiding conflict, Microsoft office product skills, consolidation reports. coaching and managing a team.. I enjoy the work culture I share with my colleagues and assisting clients and the recognition is get from the people I assist. Leak of communication.

Pros: Good working hours, trainign is done when a need occurs.
Cons: no growth, no recognition, promotions or incentives given to top performers.

The company has been great and I feel it's time for me to realise my potential.

I start my day with a meeting with my team (8 administrators) that repoert to me. Once the planning and review meeting is done, then the day starts. I offer mentoring to my staff, allocate them work and authorise whatever journals and sign interest on late payment letters. Then six month into the financial year I do performance reviews. I have learnt how to manage a team as well as ofer coaching where needed. I have enjoyed working with diffrent personalities and learning how to handle challenging situation.

Pros: Great opportunity fro growth
Cons: Able to work long working hours
