Excellent

Working at Golden Arrow Bus Services is the best thing ever, you get to meet different characters of people and deal with their different attitudes and that was the biggest challenge as the HR practitioner, it has trained me to deal with with more people in the big world. The company its self is the well known company that grooms most employees, especially the drivers to get experience. And it also taught me how to work under pressure as we were doing weekly payslip, working under pressure is our daily basis this, we only get 1 day to relax but that was during the month because we have monthly deadline also. I enjoyed every moment here, working as a team, the managers are also friendly, and patience with us.

Improve great skills and abilities.

Starting strictly at hooter goes of no nonsense strictly on the job.job cards already on online maintenance system.Rst is ridiculous, but u adapt your own time management. Co workers are great working together as we need each other for each time of the day.You learn to order your own spares working on Sap system.Enjoy training workshop assistance,Apprentices as u share your skills to empower and skill them.The most challenging aspects is to meet u peak hours every day as for busses must be on time for computers rely on us to be on time at work or home and safe and no breakdowns.

Cons: No room for promotion, Still who u know in company and not what u are.Nepotism also prayed on.

My learning curve . was understanding the management Systems

Maintaining Management Integrated System ISO 9001 Data capturing and updating RTMS document Periodic Audits for continuous improvement on ISO 9001 and RTMS Daily, weekly and monthly updating relevant key performance indicators according to the set frequencies on ISO 9001 Analyze key performance indicators and identify areas of growth for productivity improvement. Assist management to maintain the management system required by ISO 9001 and RTMS on accreditation. Develop productivity improvement proposals. Support and assist Engineering department on Administration duties. Licensing clerk when required

Average learning curve

Golden Arrow is a great company to work for, it has been operating for 158 years and offers opportunity for career and personal growth. The offer study assistance if it is related to the public transport field. As long as you are discipline and do your work, you should be ok. Like in other workplace you are faced with relationship challenges, but this can make your more skilled or demotivate you, if you are not a self motivated person. The most challenging aspect of this job is people, the diversity of negative people. The only downside of working for this company is that it is the only bus company in Western Cape that operate a public based road transport company, so therefore limiting your opportunities to move from one company to another.

Learning curve in new industry

Ensuring compliance to all SHE legal requirements. Internal audits and inspections to address non-conformances to legal requirements. Very little support from top management and no assistants available to help with work needed in 6 different depots - sole responsibility for SHE matters. SHE matters not considered a top priority by management Improved awareness regarding SHE requirements amongst employees. I enjoy doing SHE training but get very little time to do this.

Skilled inviroment advanced equipment.

Normally work in shifts,day and night.As day more colleagues work in your department is each is task driven and work mostly on a online maintenance job card system.Night shifts only two guys on shift and have all responsibility. We have great team spirit to get you through the day.Great learning skills you adapt on advanced Diagnostics equipment.Enjoy repairing the impossible defects and breakdowns with very difficult problems and you repair it.The challenging aspects is to get you peak out for customers reliability and safety.

Challenging environment with rich diversity in working teams

- Wake up early to monitor operations, interact with subordinates regarding previous day and current day issues - Interact with customers on concerns and compliments regarding the service. - Most co-workers are pleasurable to work with and helpful to meet group goals - I have learnt that when diversity is managed well it produces powerful team combinations - I enjoy developing subordinates and empowering to be future leaders and managers - The most challenging aspects of the job is the extremely long unrenumerated working hours and dealing with dishonest customers
