Had a very good experience there

Dr George Mukhari Academic Hospital hospital is a academic hospital based in Ga rankuwa, Pretoria. In the x ray department when not on shifts I clock in at 7h30 in the morning and knock off at at 16h00 in the afternoon. Night shift is from 19h00 to 8h00 in the morning. I have a very good relationship with my colleagues, we were in teams and help each other when one lacks and mentor each other when ever we have time. In my very less months at the institution I have learned a lot, i now can scan using a CT, can use lodox and many other equipments. The challenges here it that it's a very big department and to learn different equipments in a short space of time and still be able to cope with as many patients per day.

Pros: Best ability to learn
Cons: Number of patients seen in a day is too much

Professional Development

Working in a paediatric surgical unit is a daily learning opportunity, managing surgical conditions that are complicated.A typical work day looks Morning prayers where we start of the day as nurses with motivation and appreciation of team work.Theater cases through the day, administration duties and administer IV treatments.Comprehensive patient reports and supervision of subordinates.Relationship with colleagues is professional and a spirit of team work under leadership.I enjoy Teaching about conditions and demonstration of procedure.I have learnt how to be a shift leader and take on the responsibilities such as problem solving. Most challenging aspects of the job is the insufficient resources to provide care which hinders patients getting quality care.

Pros: Learning About different complicated conditions and nursing managing
Cons: Insufficient working resources
