Born and bred in East London, Abongile Monqo matriculated from Hudson Park High School in 2006 and went onto obtaining a Diploma in Retail Business Management from the Cape Peninsula University of Technology in 2012. He is in the process of completing his Advanced Diploma in Management P.T. He cut his teeth in retail as a Merchandise & Assortment Planner at the Cape Town Woolworths Head- office and this was followed by his role as a Graduate Trainee at Massmart Holdings. His education and experience equipped him for his last role as the Luxury Brand Specialist at Distell.

Pros: Abongile’s role includes identifying opportunities to network with high net worth individuals as well as focusing on developing extensive product knowledge and growing Luxury Brands sales volume. It also includes, dealing with consumers needs through understanding and upkeep of key consumer pathways, looking after the luxury brands by category with a strong focus on the Luxury portfolio, negotiating, contracts, deals and commercially sound business plans aligned with high value added services during the sales call, designing and implementing endorsement strategy and a sustainable Joined Business Plan (JBP) with strong focus on the Luxury portfolio and performing analysis in Customer insights (Customer performance report and implications).

I'm a fast learner who takes her job very seriously, I'm a hard worker I want to explore and grow

I have a background of a bank for more then four years, I am a mother to three girls, married and stay at Vosloorus, I worked at Distell for more than five years I was using a Sap system I know it in and out

Working at Distell for 4and halves years

Contract expire

Company was good, is just that were on contract. My duties are: data capturing, closing production order number after being use, creating purchase requisition for raw material and consumable, capture stock take, filing, transfer load from delivery area into tanks, capturing fermented, fermenting, blend and filter tanks. We were all doing the above on SAP system. What I love is our boss was so supportive and appreciate the good job well done.

Not bad

long hours. good relationship with the team members, machinery efficiency, set -ups, planned maintenance activities, dealing with team members. still have a lot to learn with regards to people management understanding the needs of employees and putting them first

Excellent expierence

I have learned a lot at Distel and Triongen Life. Like Stock controlling, supervising, Administration, Import and export esc. I had a excellent relationships with my co-worker. I have always enjoy the new challenges and the most challenging aspect in my career was problem solving and master it.

To be part of a highly competitive company that would afford me the opportunity to grow in the working environment, and be part of a progressive team that works with enthusiasm and passion. Basically want to soak in as much knowledge as I possibly can.

Pros: Achieve sales and volume targets as per the business objectives. Implement and increase awareness of the strategic focus drive initiatives. Increase sales coverage by identifying new sales prospects. Achieve cold space targets in order to optimize sales. Build effective working relationships with customers. Optimize resources to achieve sales and volume targets. Providing timeous feedback on issues such as competitor activity, areas of improvement on efficiencies or any other issues that need attention and quick solutions.
Cons: Coordination of all sales. Managing the company master data base. Calling and updating information. Assist with the marketing objective of the company.

Gaining experience

Good day To whom it may concern Working at distell is good for gaining experience but the work is limited there are days that I don't even get called in for work and leads to a huge loss in my pocket . I am hard working and would like to work everyday to earn a full salary but working in these conditions won't allow me too .

Pros: Great opportunity to gain experience
Cons: Not even getting work on some days.

I manage to learn and enjoy every busy moment

We worked as a family. I also had the opportunity to work out side my work space evolving myself in other duties and helping other departments. Every day was a challenge. Distell is changing their way of working and i was lucky to be apart of most of the changes. I learned in my self that their is nothing i cant learn and master on my own. I enjoyed logistics the most as it cover a big range of different challenges everyday. The biggest challenge was the internal changes you had to keep an open mind and adapt fast. People i feel relied om me to stay with the changes so i can give the other support. The DSD transport system was the most challenging but i got it. To name the stuff i did in a day i find impossible. I worked with sales, warehouse, logistic, customer service, credit control, transport department, out side transporters, IT .......Resolving queries, helping with documentation, sorting stock, pulling sales figures for customers.... thanks

Cons: the heart sore of seeing people leave and the time that it was for me to leave
