My workplace and factors that influence my personal growth inside our company

A typical work day for me will be to make sure most of staff are doing what is expected of them. Meaning i have to delegate work to some machine operators, assistants and apprentices. Also i need to try and keep them motivated although we are currently experiencing a low due to retrenchments that took place a year ago. My relationship with co-workers is good and we get along most of the time, i believe in building relationships and teamwork. I have learnt to deal with all types of personalities during my years at my current place of employment. I have become wiser in dealing with young and older learners and it motivates me when i see that i can make a positive impact in someones life. My reward is having achieved great success thus far in the sense of getting apprentices at a young age fresh from school and be part of a team to help them become qualified and competent machine operators. Currently my biggest challenge is getting a machine we are servicing up to manufactures standards.

Pros: Having a job where you feel you can make a difference
Cons: Reduced hours leading to reduced income; not receiving recognition for what you contribute

Planning, production, managing, reporting.

Each day I am at work one hour before my normal shift start. Check all my emails, plan production around deadlines, check client requirements. When shift start ensure all staff receive relevant information as to production requirements and urgency of work that needs to be dispatched. Manage staffing through the shift, operators, clerks, hyster driver and general workers. I have a good relationship with all workers, clients including senior managers. This job thought me receiving, finishing, packaging and dispatching. My greatest challenges is meeting deadlines. End shift by drafting reports to my seniors.

Pros: Satisfaction when clients are happy with quality and work quantity received accurately and on time.
Cons: Company loosing big service contract in new year which could affect 100 jobs.

Good learning curve

CTP Newspapers is a good company to work for. Been coming up to work here in the years of my apprenticeship and got to know everyone here. A very close knit team of people that do their utmost best to get the newspapers out before the daily deadline. I am in the workshop here and since being here, i have grown tremendously as opposed to being an apprentice.

Pros: Good learning
Cons: None

My 3years was a challenge and awesome experience

ive have always been mechanically incline since I've started in the engineering trade.i was a maintenance /technical assistant at CTP newspapers for +-3 years. I've been thought alot from my artisan e.g. fit and Turners as well as millwrights. I have been thought how to go about working on machinery or any moving objects. my colleagues has seen me as a honest and hard-working individual. that trade has been challenging especially when I made a move to take things further as to go an study but never worked out for me. hope this letter sounds convincing to employ me.

Pros: il always complete tasks requested from me
Cons: working weekends is not and option if only needed if requested
