Its a good company run badly

As the Manager first thing in the morning is to make sure that all floats balance and then attach the till. And a sign the stuff the tills and placement on the shop floor. I would also review the the previous days Figures and give a report to the team as to what's happening and where we stand. I would then let the store operate. My relationship with my team is an excellent relationship built on hard work, trust and high morales. I've learnt to lead from the front and take control of any situation. I work well with all teams. I work well under pressure. I love the pressure of a difficult situation.

I have 6 years’ experience working in a Stock Controlling and Warehousing. Both are highly challenging, pressurized environments with high volumes and performance targets to be reached. My persistence, self-motivated, results driven, hard-working, ability to work effectively and focused under pressure attributes enabled me to perform at a high level of expectation, I have a knowledge and experience of various activities performed in the warehouse i.e stock receiving,stock capturing, off loading of goods, packing, picking, stock replenishing, receiving returns/credits, checking, dispatching and supervising all activities performed in the warehouse and I have a multi-task attitude . I'm computer literate and I assure you that I adapt easily, I'm a fast learner and I will perform all tasks up to the company's requirements

It a great learning curve.

I joined the company because i needed to do something rather than sitting at home bored. I came to love the retail industry. I always thought it was not for me as i come from legal background. But i sometimes find myself enjoying what i do, especially when customers rave about my customer service to them. That puts a smile on my face all the time. A typical work day includes racking up the shelves with clothes, making the shop look presentable. I've learned a lot since working in retail, like how the shops appearance need to change from time to time. The people i work with are good people. I talk ti everyone and we always joking with each other.

Pros: lots of opportunities within the company to grow and the discount deals we get.
Cons: long hours and less money

It helped me improve from retail career.

There are no promoting opportunities, you can remain the in the same position for a while. But the pay is okay. I enjoy working there a lot, we get together as a team, no drama there, it's a good environment to start a career in retail. I've learnt how to merchandise, got a lot of experience in customer service. They taught me administration, how to work under pressure, how to stay calm in difficult situations, how to deal with tough customers. Most of all, how to be a good team member. The most challenging things working there is that the are no incentives, you reach target or not, you earn the same amount, no medical aid. You just get your besic salary.

15 years senior retail management experience

Daily Communication, analysis and strategizing budgets and driving KPIS. Open door policy, fair and great relationship with all staff and management. I have learnt and live by this motto:- Never ever let the successes of today lull you into a place of complacency for that is the greatest foundation of failure.

Pros: To not be confined to one store but to caretake and be responsible for a chain of stores.
Cons: To have a balance of work and personal time.

Good learning curve

Working at cotton on has taught me great customers experience, good relationship with customers and staff, not so good growth in my side I feel that I am being used to carry a position that I am not being paid or getting allowance for but over all it as good environment to work in and would love to grow on

A day at the office(store)

1st things 1st as the morning starts we have a morning talk to discuss what the results for yesterday were, the KPIs the pros and cons of yesterday’s events. As we are discussing yesterday’s figures we starting with our KPIs for the day and what we as a team want to achieve as the store manager i deligate tasks to all employees who are working as I am busy with daily admin and communicating with my area manager about the plan for the day! As working for a retail store for so many years you know that your colleges are your second family I feel like if you can’t get along with them then you can’t function properly! What I enjoyed most about being a store manager I can deal with different scenario with a smile on your face always make the customer happy always! The most difficult part about my job is difficult customers but the pleasen ones make going to work that much better

Exceptional growth and learning experience

Working at my job there's a number of tasks and deadlines I have to meet daily as well as weekly, working with my team and leading them in a way for us to get things done on time and in the correct way that is expected is exciting because you learn to 5hink differently in order to change how you normally do things in order to get things done, on a normal day of running the store, I would have my tasks to do, such as, some admin, filing, reporting and writing of reports, as well as driving my team to achieve targets that are set for us as well as targets we set for ourselves.

Pros: Have been promoted, been able to run other stores, learned alot of different skills
Cons: Very long working hours, no bonus
