Learning experience

Working at COGTA was a good experience, doing water and wase water treatment inspection, verifying the functionality and technical capacity of water and waste water plants. Also doing inspection on water and sanitation project such as pump stations, reticulation system, reservoirs. The most challenging aspect doing this is getting municipalities to fully Cooperate. What I've learned is that team work is very important as it makes it easier to achieve or complete a task and also learning from the other colleagues.

Pros: Greater opportunity to understand the core challenges of water supply
Cons: Long reports required in short notice

Good learning curve

I spent most of the day assist different people with different personalities. The environment of the department where I come from was to comfortable for me and there was not a lot of challenges and career growth as well, the people are very loving and caring. Managers got very intimidated by junior staff. I had a Senior Manager that believed so much in me and he has instilled good leadership skills in myself.

Pros: We work only Monday to Friday
Cons: No growth opportunities

Good commucation and co-oparative within the intitution

Im working at COGTA as an administrative assistant on project management which fall under municipal infrastructure . I enjoy being working with municipalities because I obtain more knowledge about it and how they operate into the society in terms of public service delivery. They is a lot of challenges we been through cause by municipalities in terms of complying an neglecting .

Excellent learning curve

Duties comprised of site meetings with consulting agents and contractors, progress reports, status-quo and assessment reports, resolving issues with consulting agents/contractors and dissemination of project information to management.

Hard work

A typical day would be 8 hours and more depending on the work load, with a break of 45 minutes. What i enjoy about my work is giving my all and seeing the fruits of my hard work. I learn new thing every day as i started with wage(paying participants) using MIS and now am currently on non-wage(supply chain) and using BAS and also working with asset verification.

Pros: hard worker, self driven, good communication and listening skills and team workeer
Cons: 8 hours a day
