First National Bank Reviews

I am Hard working, solution based and open and looking to learn

A typical day for me starts at the end of the day with a list of things to do first thing in the morning, once i arrive at work i sort through emails and add any additional items to the to do list, and begin by prioritizing the most urgent tasks. i have very close relationships with my colleagues we are a small team and are hard working bunch, we are codependent and reliable which makes it easy to do whats required. i learn not only from the development plan i have for myself but from co-workers and superiors. the most challenging part of the job would the instability of the environment with retrenchments looming over our heads, job security is something im searching for in future.

Pros: achieving goals set out for team
Cons: lack of job security

It use to be an awesome company to work for, now it's just a nightmare having to wake up and go there, haven't had an increase for the past to years, awesome bunch of people working there, and staff could be treated much better.

Pros: Working environment is ok
Cons: Long hours

As a Relationship Analyst, we mostly assist clients with queries they might have concerning their businesses. I have learnt to analyze financials and to communicate better with clients.. my relationship with co-workers is pleasant. we work together and assist each other in solving customers queries. the most challenging aspects of my job is not being fully able to assist clients due to internal issues. what I enjoy about this job is that I get challenged every day and I get to evolve as person and discover qualities in myself that I wasn't aware I possess.

Pros: great opportnuties to grow and expand
Cons: dealong with difficult customers

Excellent learning curve

Good environment to build your retail banking experience, learning the sales environment as well as the projects / change environment. Opportunity for career development are a lot since the group includes diverse fields (eg retail, investment, insurance, sales, it, etc)

Pros: opportunity for personal growth
Cons: office politics

Great experienced picked up along the way, limited exposure

I am busy for the full 8 hours daily. Great relationship with co-workers. Grown from a Customer service consultant to being given an opportunity without the qualification due to business and systems knowledge gained over the past 14 years. I've learnt how to work with stakeholders on various projects. I enjoy the values and the culture that exist in FNB, as well as the fact that ethics very important. The fact that there is constant room for growth is what usually holds one back from moving on. With the above being said, the greatest challenge is that at times when you try to enhance academically in line with you job role it becomes a bit of an issue.

Pros: Great growth opportunity
Cons: People still have the power over the values and opportunities available, making the changes of growing a bit of a mission

Great career development

Working for FNB has been an eye opener and a great experience,I have learned a lot from working with customers and also learning different kinds of personalities and on how to handle them. It has also helped me to tackle my dad to day interaction with people,I have also learned to face the challenges that I come across,to serve with a smile irregardless of how I feel,to stay positive at all times and also to be enthusiastic all the times. I also learned on not taking my job as just a job but owned it as if its my own company that makes me to drive positive results. The most memorable moment is when I resolved the customer's query to hos/her satisfaction. The most challenging time is when I cant help the customer or when he/she is not satisfied.

Pros: Great company in terms of learning and personal growth
Cons: Lots of risk in terms of job security

Excellent learning curve

The days vary from slight to extreme stress dealing and attending to the client multiple needs. I have a good relationship with my co-workers, communication between employees is excellent. I have gained great knowledge in a short period and continue to learn daily. The most challenging aspect is that time is not sufficient.

Pros: Great opportunity
Cons: LOng hours

What I like about my job

My normal day at work would be to get to work, perform health checks on the machines I'm working on and start working, it will depend on what shift I will be in since we do different things on different shifts. -What I enjoy the most is communicating with different types of people and building relationships.

Pros: Great place to learn about the bank
Cons: Working Shifts

Great consideration, collaboration & implementation opportunity

Management of an L&D Learning Architects, involves deliberate innovation. Careful consideration to content development - minimum time out of role with exponential learning benefit. Happy and considerate owner manager type culture. Learning is not a standard one size fits all - Learnerships/bursaries can be as simple or as complicated as you make it to be. Budgets (there is never enough)

Pros: love love love the employee value prop of a development culture
Cons: :( cannot think of one at the moment.
