I am always looking forward to an exciting challenge
As the Power Station IT Manager, I always have close interactions with our clients including management since I have an open door policy. When the day begins I have to check all the system reports for the previous day and night thereby ensuring that all the service rendered is within SLA. I also have a brief meeting with my staff to plan for the day ahead and review our previous day's performance. I would then attend a morning management meeting to get a feel of the business direction for the day and give feedback on any IT related matters. Customer satisfaction is most fulfilling Rolling out new centralized applications/systems to the customer as part of the standardization drive driven from the Head office is challenging because in many cases it would mean defending a business case for the system that was not necessarily requested by your direct customer.
Pros: Still comfortable with the job
Cons: Job now less challenging as processes are all in place and I have been doing for a long period within the same environment

Mr
Eskom generates approximately 95% of the electricity used in South Africa and approximately 45% of the electricity used in Africa. Eskom generates, transmits and distributes electricity to industrial, mining, commercial, agricultural and residential customers and redistributors. Additional power stations and major power lines are being built to meet rising electricity demand in South Africa. Eskom will continue to focus on improving and strengthening its core business of electricity generation, transmission, trading and distribution. Eskom buys electricity from and sells electricity to the countries of the Southern African Development Community (SADC). The future involvement in African markets outside South Africa (that is the SADC countries connected to the South African grid and the rest of Africa) is limited to those projects that have a direct impact on ensuring security of supply for South Africa.
Pros: sustainability
Cons: electricity demands

I do like working for Eskom, it is just that I dont see any grown and promotion.
I have a good working relationship with my co-workers. I have learned a lot with regards to handling customers and their queries. The company on it's own doesn't have a problem. It is a good company to work for. especially the benefits that come with it.
Pros: Great opportunity for futrthering your studies as they pay for them.
Cons: the company does not close on December like other companies.
