Great learning experience.

Excellent practical learning experience. Key responsibilities included consulting with clients and offering legal advice as well as drafting legal documents and filing legal proceedings. Worked hand in hand with a qualified attorney and accompanied him to court. Worked closely with a partner as well as in teams for tasks such as trial advocacy. Dealt with client queries and assisted with legal interpretation of documents.

Excellent learning curve

I work in a pro-bono organisation/ space and it has been delightful to be able to consult with clients, offer legal advice which essentially means some sort of direction. There are highly dedicated staff at the Wits Law Clinic who dedicate their lives to social justice and aiding indigent as well as the most vulnerable in our society. Critical, logical and analytical think is encouraged by superiors, with the hopes of developing attorneys that are fit and proper.

Excellent working space and great opportunities for learning.

I worked as a candidate attorney from June 2017 and will complete June 2019. I attended civil ligation in delict, property, family and general civil litigation law. The Wits Law Clinic is a supportive space and the supervisors are very encouraging and the patience to teach and welcome candidate attorneys the field, The colleagues inspire hard work and passion for social justice.

Pros: great civil litigation experience
Cons: Travelling a lot
