My Journey in the Casino Business

Extremely compliant environment since it is governed by the gaming board of the province. Since it is a gambling business, theft and ignorance becomes the order of the day. One has to audit the core area and the cash area continually.Putting business decisions at the top of the list, communicating at all times, give feedback always and allow a room for improvement. Taking criticisms and using them to better myself and the work that I do. Most challenging aspect is drawing budgets, conducting audits and audits being conducted on us.

Pros: Want to expand and be exposed to other companies since i have been with the company for 20 yers
Cons: Need to take a break from compliance company and concentrate much on the accounting side of my carreer

Exposure, growth and leadership

A highly compliant environment since gaming board rules the processes. I lead a team of 6 people, relate well with them since I am a team player and a leader. I have methods that keep the workers motivated and their performance has moved from good to great over the years. I have learned that leadership and managing needs patience, wisdom and understand and a lot of experience. Mostly I enjoy managing the team, taking care of operation and making business decisions that benefit the company, most challenging part of the job is when there is system crisis but over the years I have learned to have a manual structure that assists whenever we are experiencing a downtime

Pros: There is not much movement from where i am
Cons: Put up too much hours and end up exhausted

Ant to explore, learn and change the job since i have worked here from school

Through the experience at the casino, I have learned customer satisfaction as the key to sustaining the business. I have also learned ways to keep my team motivated, it starts with constant communication, open to team ideas and participation. I have learned that the team members hate to be disregarded and taken for granted. I took my time to learn their diverse culture and how each one contribute to the success of the company. I enjoy to see a task put together, brain stormed and implemented to a point of completion. I always tell my team to be proud of their output as it define them, they should never be quitters but overcomers no matter what. Most challenging aspect is maintaining the great audit score since we are a highly regulated department. have to ensure all regulations are met and everything is on point. It is always an extra mile to reach highest standards and that is what we strive for at all times, performing from good to great.

Pros: i have reached a miximum level of carreer in our sector hence i need change
Cons: Very long hours over month ends and year end preparations

Great oppertunity and excellent learnig curve, Change is good...

Very good company to learn, everyday is a learning curve. Great experiences and good expectations. I have gained a lot of experience through this company but I believe change is good. Learnt to work with different race or gender and under pressure.

A cashiering at windmill cashdesk

Other than Check float...do transactions accordingly. ..limit mistakes as possible and always smile...Windmill has a lot of different departments and everyone is super friendly. Laughing and caring we act towards each other as colleagues we feel like family. I enjoy meeting new people even if it's just for a few seconds. Keeping the customer happy when they frustrated over losing money at the casino. I have learned everyone has a big role to play in letting the customer home back for our services.

Excellent service

I love working with people they can bring out the best in me. Serving people with a smile n with love just makes it alot easier to work harder everyday to impress the customer , yourself and co-workers. Its also good toknow if I'm on the right side of my superiors.

Exelent development oppotunity

I am hard wiorking , able to kead a team of 35 staff , and dealing with all types of customer , a priblem silver, ordering and counting and controlling stock , a team leader , have leant to be take innetiative go all out to keeo a customer happy , enforce dicipline to staff al well as keeping them motivated. Love keeping customer happy at all times and doing my best to mantain agiid reputation of the company.

Manage maintenance department and Top Turf

Manage maintenance department. Do performance management. Do all ordering off spares and get quotes. Meet with contractors for quotes for work to be done and services off equipment sign off work. Prepare yearly budget and capex for department . Monthly meetings with EOC and directors. Weekly operation meeting,safety meeting . Do daily inspection on buildings which include the casino,hotel and retail areas. Do inspections of handyman and contractors work.

Pros: Transfer to bigger units all over South Africa.
Cons: Work on public holidays
