Westin Hotel Cape Town Reviews

Experiencing new challenge often

I start working from 07H00 - 17H00, but if the hotel is busy I can work until 20H00. The most targeted area by the thieves are restaurants , conference venues and lobby areas. They pretend to be our guests, but in reality they are coming to steal bags, cellphones , wallets, laptops and others valuables of our guests. Westin hotel staff are requested to report any suspicious person to the security for follow up. I have learnt that the thieves do not operate the same way, and they are syndicate operating in group most of the time. It is difficult but not impossible to stop thieves from stealing from our hotel.

Pros: There are opportunities for workers to improve their career.
Cons: In hospitality, staff work long hours when it is busy.

Excellent learning curve

This was my first time working for a company of this magnitude, it's Big, it's of a high class, a 5 star and the staff is amazing, very helpful especially top management, I enjoy the job i have learnt to deal with international guests, some important business people and politicians, I have learnt how to conduct myself and be professional even when i am helping famous celebrities . What i love the most is meeting different people from different parts of the world and actually have conversation with them. The most challenging aspect of the job is dealing with people that are impatient in high volumes.

Pros: Great opportunity for promotion
Cons: Working Night shift
