Western Cape Department of Health Reviews

Excellent learning curve, plenty of exposure, constantly learning

Advertising bids on IPS, compiling quotation documents for evaluation, checking on deliveries, doing payment of goods delivered. A positive, helpful environment where co-workers assist one another in pressure times. I enjoy that I am not fixed the tasks I do, however, the process stays the same and becomes monotonous.

Pros: Great exposure to systems, not bound to one type of task the entire time
Cons: Fixed and rigid process making it monotonous

Stagnating, limited to my current job role

I love my work that I am doing, but I am so limited that I have become frustrated and I find myself bored most of the time. There is nothing challenging about my work and I am not able to go and learn from other offices either so you are stuck doing the same thing year in and year out. I know that I am stagnating and this is sad for me as I really wish that I could do a lot more.

Pros: Stable Job
Cons: No growth and lots of red tape.

George subdistrict

Typically see chronic patients in clinic, then overtime is done over entire weekend, Friday until Monday morning in a casualty based setting. Usually the only Dr on call, seeing emergency patients and referring to my referring hospital.

Pros: Great resources
Cons: Long overtime hours

Internship at department of health

My career objective is to be successful in a career which has potential and to be part of a growing company that will enable me to prove my capabilities and potential. I can work well in a framework of a team and can handle responsibilities on my own. I can also work well under pressure. I am a fast learner and I’m always up for a challenge. I am confident about my abilities and myself and will be an asset to any organisation.

Pros: opportunity for growth
Cons: office hours
