My journey

I work at Webber Wentzel in Sandton as a Legal Information Specialist (Librarian) and our team consist of 6 people. 2 in Cape Town and 4 in Johannesburg. I am the youngest with and LLB degree. So they had to adjust the requirements in order to hire me as they need someone with legal expertise to join their team. I have worked at an Academic library before being the University of Pretoria, so it was not challenging me to adapt. The pressure of a Law Firm is obviously hectic in comparison to an Academic Library. I have a great manager who is willing to share her knowledge and expertise. I work well with my team and also independent. I monitor certain legal practice areas and sectors. What I enjoy most about my job is the collaboration and unity and most importantly that I learn more each day and that I am clued up about the legal developments

Personal Profile I am a goal driven, loyal and positive person with a passion for customer service and client satisfaction. I am also a hard working team player that does everything to the best of my ability. I believe I am a very committed, ambitious person who is always willing to learn new things and expand my knowledge. My experience in the working arena has enabled me to improve on the following areas, Leadership, Diversity Goal Setting, Communication, Soft Skills, Management, Negotiating Skills and Conflict Handling. The work culture is not suitable for raising a family

The company favours people of a certain race group. The work culture is not great and many people are unhappy. There have been many resignations due to people finding it f=difficult to fit in and enjoy a work life balance.

Good learning environment

Culture is different from all my previous experiences but the role prepares one for future roles which might be just as challenging just like it. However the management structure makes it very difficult because there are more stakeholders

Learning Curve

1st and 2ndline support remote support, setting up Desktop PC's Laptops. I have a good working relationship with my Team we share knowledge, I have learnt the importance of team work, I enjoy helping user's and resolving their IT issues

Excellent learning curve

Growing law firm with great exposure to the IT industry currently rolling out O365 which is good for security purposes since it’s cloud Users are professional always dressed in a professional attire,awareness regarding cyber attacks is given to users every week to make users aware so the communication is proper

Best experience, growth and learning

The place is amazing, enough pressure to bring out best in all professionals. The place exposes young professionals to most duties. The culture is good and warm, diversity and inclusiveness is growing. Equal opportunities for all people are shared.

It is a good culture which enables growth in a short amount of time

I am a Master of Laws graduate who is currently an Associate – Corporate Mergers and Acquisitions at Webber Wentzel where I also completed my Articles. Prior to joining Webber Wentzel I worked as a Research and Teaching Associate at the University of the Witwatersrand, a Legal Intern at Microsoft South Africa and also occupied various student roles. I hold a Bachelor of Laws - LLB (with Distinction) as well as a Master of Laws (specialising in Company Law), both completed at the University of the Witwatersrand in 2014 and 2015, respectively.
