Career in Logistics industry, contract/client management at VSC
My career in the logistics industry spans over a period of more than decade and I have been privileged to be part of and witnessed many changes in the field. In this period I have been in a managerial position for 12 years and in a semi senior position for 3 years.My strengths are my effective leadership capabilities, my determination to achieve the required objective, my zeal for problem solving, and my ability to gain team buy-in. I am able to work with diverse cultures and have the ability to understand the complexities experienced between management and lower level staff.
Pros: • Building relationship with the clients in order to facilitate and resolve all queries and complaints at an acceptable level. • Integrating current software based planning tool into the operations of the customer in such a manner that the customer will achieve maximum benefit. • Identifying new opportunities within the customer base and developing them into the planning tool.

Vsc Solutions is a great small company under SuperGroup.
A typical day at work: I start work at 10 am, first thing I do is check email-respond. Do my daily routing feedback, make changes if there are to yesterday's plan. It is a small company so we all know each other, it is mainly young people so we have alot in common and we always talking, sharing skills, teaching each other new skillsets and bouncing ideas off each other. It is a great work environment. I have learnt alot, from binary codes, to advanced excel, SQL, SAP, DSD, Roadshow data manipulation, plotting customers, exercises and presenting skills. I enjoy training new employees, I enjoy communicating with the customer and working independently. The most challenging aspects is dealing with difficult clients, people who don't understand processes and are defensive or aggressive.

Excellent learning curve
The company has provided a good learning opportunity. A typical day at work begins with scheduling for clients and later doing planning for centres. My team and I work extremely well together. I have learned alot about distribution applications and scheduling applications. Strategic planning is what I enjoy doing the most. Lack of communication with superiors is a challenge and causes some issues that can be avoided.

Working independently and time management
Working independently and time management , I enjoy the most learning new things as I grow , have learned that patience is the key for any growth , typical work day depends on the days of the month as we run month end on a monthly basis so it's always challenging to balance everything at once but I strive and results and deadline driven

Great experience
During this period I’ve had the opportunity to advance and develop my technical and professional skills. I have developed skills in leadership, overall project management and effective communication with clients, management and pee.

Good learning curve
There is a lot to learn when you first start Most of this consists of procedural/daily tasks that are required of planners, and specific routing conventions depending on the day/customer. Proficiency with route planning can be achieved relatively quickly and the position becomes quite dull and repetitive after that. There are days when exceptions make work exciting however the majority of the working week is the same.
Pros: Good work-life balance if you are based at head office.
Cons: Long working hours without compensation. Client based so you don't feel part of the company.

Limited growth
limited growth, limited increase in income, poor management decisions, no transparency. There's has been wasteful expenditure under the same management. Management refuses to see the potential of their people and never wants to invest in them. Immature way of managing people, sort of a police approach. Certain processes only pertains to certain persons.

Great learning curve in different supply chain enviroments
Assisting customers daily with Queries and helping them identify areas of concerns. Assisting customer in tracking their assets as well as determine the most cost efficient routes to their delivery points. My current work environment has been a great learning curve as i have been exposed to different fields within the supply chain industry. The most challenging aspects of my job is taking a customers business rules and optimizing their current deliveries but also reducing their fleet.

The co-workers are easy going and makes working less of a job but a pleasure to be around.
It is a pleasure working for one of the biggest logistics companies. The only issue is that staff work hard and no play. Due to COVID staff has been allowed to work from home without any staffs jobs being impacted negatively.

Exposure to different programming languages
Have flexible hours as it is a commission post. I have learnt a new program as we use Talend for integration purposes. I have a good working relationship with my co-workers.
