Eg - Great Learning Curve

A very on your toes kind of day - helping with walk-in's at any time. A day here could go anything from quiet, general walk-in's just wanting to find out how things work, to busy in a blink of an eye. Because you're always working with people, its good to have a sense of people skills to help maintain good relationships. We are a very small unit of employees here, each department very small as the business as a different concept and culture to it. Being a small unit, we get along well, allowing for communication to be better and to allow easy filtering through. I've learnt a lot within the job, from a professional point as well personally. Flexibility is one as you work shifts, and along with that, people too, as some clients can be difficult. Its been fun working in this industry, meeting all sorts of people, trying to keep them motivated to look after their bodies and themselves. Sometimes that can be the most challenging; keeping them motivated and keeping the fire in them to train.

Excellent learning experience

Im a sports Management graduate, Btech and I started wirking at Virgin Active in 2013 June as a half day fitness instructor, I was promoted to a full day within 2 months because if my hard work, the love I have fir fitness and training members. We had a great team and that made me grow. In 18 months (2014) I was promoted to a group exercise manager because I loved griup taining, impact the masses, organising events and going out there to promote the events. In 2016 a new gym opened and I saw an opportunity, and I applied for a fitness manager position at Viva Gym SA. And, amazingly I got and my life changed ever since. I have learned alot, there were some challenges but thats what keeps me going, I am currently a personal and part time fitness manager. I love who I have become and I know I am capable of doing more and better.

Pros: Great opportunity for development, great team work, the members are awesome.
Cons: Long hours, less opportunities.

Excellent learning curve

The gym is a good and busy environment with a lot of good people. As an employee we are robbed of the income as we do work free on a Sunday and a public holiday and do not get paid for extra hours or extra time. Though this has given me an eye opener as to how things work and how to maintain confidence under pressure.

Good industry with growth

Working at viva gym is a great experience for me.I get to learn more from my team and the members.I sometime face challenges which i have to handle myself.I have learnt a lot from my team.The company has thought me a lot today i am a H and Safety she rep.what i enjoy the most is helping out and solving member queries.The most challenging aspects ate injuries and fighting of members.I really enjoy working at Viva gym and i have a good relationship with my colleages.

Excellent business experience

Great company to work at. Provides a great platform to market and promote your self. It is still a growing organization that is learning a lot from its competitors. People enjoy the environment the gym and a different vib to the wellness and fitness industry.

Great young company

Viva is great to work for. There are challenges, but there will be at any new and growing company. There are opportunities to grow and develop and grow, as the business grows. Theres' a lot of fun to be had, and it is great interacting with the fellow staff and members.

Cons: early mornings late nights - no medical aid / maternity pay
