Growth and new challenge

Hi My name is Shaamiel Cader, I am currently the Head of Network Architecture and systems design at Vast Networks. The company is owned 51% by Dimension Data and 49% by Naspers. This being two of the biggest South African giants in Information technology and multimedia arena. I would like to apply for the position as advertised on Linked In, to grow my skill set and learnings. I have been in the IT industry for the past 23 years. I started my career as a cabling laborer with the focus to reach the panicle of my career during a 25-year span. I have achieved most of my targets and goals, set by myself, over the years. I have been fortunate enough to have worked in the Financial, Government, Retail, Broadcasting and Pure IT environments. Twelve years of the twenty-two years were spent in management. I have loved the creativity in delivering cutting edge new age products

I drive passion in our teams to deliver against demanding targets in a challenging business environment. This role has allowed me to flourish in that I am accountable for the entire business from the 5-10 year strategy to daily KPI’s.

Great working with new solutions and fresh ideas.

Working for Vast has been extremely exciting especially learning new products and never before tested solutions in the IT market. Vast has excellent working conditions as the people are helpful and diverse. The times are flexible and you are not always required to work from the office. Most of the planning work is done by the PM's however the deployment is left to 3rd party vendors which can be a problem when it comes to QA.

Cons: Did not get an offer to further studies
