Unilever Sa Reviews

Excellent learning experiences

Opportunity to learn and experience new business strategic projects in central Africa white spaces such as setting up Omo powder factories. Had a chance to travel to Congo, Ethiopia, Cameroon and engage with engineering teams, guiding projects as well as learning from specialist enzyme compliance teams. Did a role as a quality Specialist as well where I reduced consumer and customer complaints by analysing root causes and implementing solutions. Currently in a very senior role highlighting to the business various favourable options and scenarios against cost, service and quality thereafter running the required project chosen by the business to completeness. Technical training and opportunity to learn and grow is massive however climbing up the corporate ladder does tend to have its difficulties and politics associated

Pros: Great experiences
Cons: Long working hours

YOU WANT ME ON YOUR TEAM - I AM A WINNER - ALWAYS ON

I loved working at Unilever - my track record will validate this. The pace is fast moving, innovation flowing non stop and never a dull monotonous day. I had the pleasure of receiving several accolades and team awards for going above and beyond, just to get the job done, on time and in full. I am a strong team player and thoroughly enjoyed the vast global exposure having worked for this global entity. i enjoyed the agile working, flexible hours, amazing team support, on going training support from the best facilitators. At times, my hands were tied, when we were at the mercy of visa agencies to deliver urgent visas, we could not control the rules of Consulars which made important business travel very nerve wrecking. some highlights ... ¬Events organiser - hosting global guests, from arrival to departure ¬Super-user - visa application process ¬Designated team member to accompany leadership team to offer office support nationally ¬Office mentor to many many many new engagers

Pros: Very stable business with constant room for getting bigger
Cons: management changed every three years, so personally, i had to prove myself all over again and learn a new management style, which worked out great each time

Great learning curve and exposure to the company's different facets

Being a part of a FMCG plant requires you to be on your feet from 7am to 5pm , and later should there be issues around the production plants. Its a great learning ground, with an intense learning curve. From operations to maintenance and project management, there is a good amount of knowledge to be learnt. I enjoy the dynamic nature and freedom and creativity to solve problems.

Pros: Great experience and an intense learning curve. Knowledge is gain regarding all facets of the business.
Cons: Long working hours. No room for growth due to current restructuring and retrenchments

Good learning opportunities

III try my best as I can to keep a positive attitude towards my job and my co-workers. I choose to come to the office daily with a smile no matter how challenging sometimes it is. I try very hard to keep positive energy that helps others keep their enthusiasm. I regularly congratulate and encourage others to motivate them. My teamwork skills were not so good, so I opted to attend a two-day collaboration 101 training that gave me a better understanding of teamwork ideas and how to be a more efficient team player in whatever role that comes my way. This past year my team worked on the main areas that were very critical to the company. The key social responsibility committee and the customer service process. Our team emerged the best in successfully completing the challenging task and doing so promptly. I clearly communicate with clients to ensure the best customer service is provided. I know I have had problems with some demanding clients in the past, but it has only made me more confident in handling

Pros: Great Opportunity to learn
Cons: Unhealthy work environment
